…tapping, tapping, tapping…waiting, waiting waiting…for the next move of the collectivist Obama administration which could very well be the borg absorption of British Petroleum as recommended by economic transition team member Robert Reich.
Because one should never waste an excellent crisis!
It’s time for the federal government to put BP under temporary receivership, which gives the government authority to take over BP’s operations in the Gulf of Mexico until the gusher is stopped. This is the only way the public know what’s going on, be confident enough resources are being put to stopping the gusher, ensure BP’s strategy is correct, know the government has enough clout to force BP to use a different one if necessary, and be sure the President is ultimately in charge.
If the government can take over giant global insurer AIG and the auto giant General Motors and replace their CEOs, in order to keep them financially solvent, it should be able to put BP’s north American operations into temporary receivership in order to stop one of the worst environmental disasters in U.S. history.
The Obama administration keeps saying BP is in charge because BP has the equipment and expertise necessary to do what’s necessary. But under temporary receivership, BP would continue to have the equipment and expertise. The only difference: the firm would unambiguously be working in the public’s interest. As it is now, BP continues to be responsible primarily to its shareholders, not to the American public. As a result, the public continues to worry that a private for-profit corporation is responsible for stopping a public tragedy.
Read the entire article at the link above. Mr. Reich does have a point that the government does need to be in legal control and have direct authority over what is happening to fix the leak in the gulf, I’m just worried that Bambi isn’t gonna give this bright shiny back when the leak is fixed.
Do you really believe that Bill Clinton acted as a go-between for Rahm Emanuel in offering a non-paid advisory position to Joe Sestak? Really? REALLY? I’m calling donkeyballs on this one.
Darrell Issa makes the statement that “this administration can no longer be trusted”. I guess in GOP terms, those are some fighting words, and I am glad that somebody in government is starting to edge closer to what bloggers and talk radio have been saying since before the pResident was installed in our White House.
Will we be hearing the whole truth from the District of Criminals? I’m not holding my breath.
When do we surround the capital and shut down the renegade ‘government gone wild’ again? When is the national strike?
pResident Dingbat was in Quincy, IL today on his jobless tour with, more than likely, another fake audience. The Quincy Tea Party showed up to let him know what they think and Bambi decided to call the goons out on them because of the possibility of violence (ya know, being tea party patriots, racist, over 65, and breathing). If you don’t think you live in a police state right now, you better wise up quick. This level of paramilitary presence has been around for years, there just hasn’t been a reason to see it until now.
Does anyone find it odd that Bambi ‘holds’ his ground with the republicans but chokes with the Somali Pirates and bows to just about everybody else?
Mr. Kuttner obviously has not read Dodd’s 1400 page masterpiece enough to know that it allows for bailouts in perpetuity (pg 1379). I haven’t even gotten all the way through the book on financial reform and I already know that creating a new government agency with a $500 BILLION DOLLAR YEARLY budget to keep track of every single financial transaction known to mankind, invest money, and then report on the firms they have invested in probably isn’t the best idea. This could be one of the reasons why Barry isn’t budging when it comes to ‘financial reform’. I’m sure there are more progressive ideas tucked inside this bill.
GM is receiving the AYFKM? NOW Award for trying to sell America the lie that they are out of danger and are on their way to a total fiscal recovery. How many of you believe that they paid back their bailout five years ahead of time? How many? How many knew it was a lie when it came out of the CEO’s mouth?
Obey the Constitution? Outlaw deficits? Cut spending? There goes Dr. Paul talking about common sense solutions again. Ron Paul covers numerous topics from Obama being a corporatist to the healthcare edict’s mandate.
Newt Gingrish speaks to the Southern Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans and explains the dos of electing a republican House and Senate in order to non-fund all of Obama’s radical plans including the EPA and Obamacare. He also speaks to how to make Obama a one term pResident, and the commitment republicans need to make to the country to repeal every single ‘radical’ piece of legislation once they achieve the White House in 2013.
