Dems’ Response To C-Span Cameras During Healthcare Final Phase (VIDEO)

Big Government has an article today about C-Span sending a letter to congressional leadership asking for cameras to be present during the meeting for the final healthcare bill.  The response from Nancy and Chris, “We don’t know if there is going to be a conference.”

C-SPAN Asks to Televise Health Care Negotiations

Just before New Year’s, C-SPAN Chairman and CEO Brian Lamb sent a letter to Congressional leadership, requesting permission to televise negotiations around the final health care reform legislation. The letter was addressed to Speaker Nancy Pelosi, GOP Leader Rep. John Boehner, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and GOP Senate Leader Mitch McConnell.

The letter notes:

Now that the process moves to the critical stage of reconciliation between the Chambers, we respectfully request that you all the public full access, through television, to legislation that will affect the lives of every American.

Of course, just days after receiving the offer from C-SPAN, Democrats resumed private negotiations behind close doors:

Congressional Democrats are embarking on an abbreviated negotiation to save Reid the hassle of overcoming more procedural hurdles, but that means the resulting negotiations will be held behind closed-doors as the various stakeholders push for final changes. Liberal Democrats in the House have taken exception with the revised process, but most aides argue a drawn-out conference negotiation would give Senate Republicans too many opportunities to derail the process.

Remember all that talk from Barry on the campaign trail about healthcare and about C-Span cameras in the room when healthcare was going to be debated?

When the lies become so incredibly blatant, just remember illegal alien amnesty, the 2010 US Census, and the dems ranks growing enough to re-elect all of these traitors.

Hit the link for the actual letter.

Healthcare: Closed Meetings And The Link To Immigration

Healthcare: Closed Meetings And The Link To Immigration

Recently I posted an article stating that the conference between the House and the Senate over healthcare would likely happen behind closed doors between the respective leaderships instead of appointing members to a public conference.  I was only wrong about one thing; the West Wing is going to be there too.

From The Washington Times:

Dems look to skip formality on health bills

Democratic leaders are looking to forgo a formal, public conference to merge the House and Senate’s health care overhaul bills, giving Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the White House free rein to hammer out the final measure behind closed doors and thwart Republican efforts to stymie it.

The maneuver gives Democratic leaders the ability to quickly work through hundreds of differences between the 2,000-page bills and to keep control over the deals they will need to make on politically touchy topics such as abortion, taxes and Medicare cuts.

“A true conference could take longer than it seems leaders in the Senate want to spend on this,” said a Senate Democratic aide.

Democratic aides say the final decision hasn’t been made, but the party’s congressional leaders will talk with the president this week. Democrats are pursuing a final vote in both chambers on the president’s top agenda item in time for his first State of the Union address later this month.

Now this is where the Democrats ‘eating their young’ is added to the mix, and remember, this traitorous congress is going to pass this POS, the Pretender is going to sign it, and then we are going to have to walk it back later this year.  Mark my words.

Democrats Considering Health Care-Immigration Deal To Overcome Key Sticking Point

Lawmakers who want to extend health coverage to illegal immigrants will not block the passage of the final health care reform bill so long as the White House offers a substantive promise to start pushing comprehensive immigration legislation this year. (emphasis mine)

Democrats who want a comprehensive bill that reforms immigration law but also offers a pathway to citizenship have threatened to vote against health care if illegals aren’t included in the new system, making immigration one of the sticking points as Democratic leaders negotiate the final details.

Democratic leadership aides believe that a firm White House promise of a comprehensive immigration bill will be enough to quell any House dissent.

TPMDC sources have been telling us that members won’t admit it publicly but they are ready to concede on immigration in the health care bill. Political aides in the White House have told key parties in Congress that President Obama wants to see a bill this year, and negotiations are under way for how it would be written.

Go here to understand how the Dems can just merrily continue to piss on the majority of the country without a care in the world.

Nancy Pelosi Promises To Protect Dems

Nancy Pelosi Promises To Protect Dems

It’s too late Nancy, much too late.  A bazillion bloggers and grassroots activists are going to be making sure that the voting records of every single congressman and senator who is running for re-election are splashed across the internet and the local neighborhood market in 2010, and again in following elections. Members of the 111th congress will be going home for breaking their oath to uphold and defend the U.S. Constitution, and for making future generations indentured servants to the federal government.

Speaker Pelosi to shield vulnerable members from controversial votes

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has privately told her politically vulnerable Democratic members that they will not vote on controversial bills in 2010 unless the Senate acts first.

After a year of bruising legislative victories that some political analysts believe have done more to jeopardize her majority than to entrench it, Pelosi is shifting gears for the 2010 election.

The Speaker recently assured her freshman lawmakers and other vulnerable members of her caucus that a vote on immigration reform is not looming despite a renewed push from the White House and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. The House will not move on the issue until the upper chamber passes a bill, Pelosi told the members.

But according to Democrats who have spoken to Pelosi, the Speaker has expanded that promise beyond immigration, informing Democratic lawmakers that the Senate will have to move first on a host of controversial issues before she brings them to the House floor.

“The Speaker has told members in meetings that we’ve done our jobs,” a Democratic leadership aide said. “And that next year the Senate’s going to have to prove what it can accomplish before we go sticking our necks out any further.”

Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-Va.), the president of the freshman class, said that Pelosi came to last Wednesday’s freshman breakfast to deliver that message, and that it was met with wide spread approval.

“I think freshmen, particularly, are not enamored of the idea of being asked to walk the plank on a controversial item if the Senate is not going to take any action,” Connolly said.

Pelosi’s promise could dim the prospects for other White House priorities as well, including the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA) — known as “card check” — and the repeal of the “don’t ask, don’t tell” prohibition on gays serving openly in the military.

I don’t believe this for a second, do you?

“There’s not going to be a ton of stuff legislatively next year either way,” a House leadership aide said. “But on EFCA — even though the House has demonstrated its ability to pass it — and on Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, the Senate is definitely going to have to act first.”

Is that because the members of the House are going to be running for re-election so the business of the people will not be getting done?  At this point, a break from the un-Constitutional free-for-all that is going on with Nancy and Harry will be refreshing.

Some liberals are concerned that there will be fewer Democrats after the 2010 elections and that the White House should ramp up, not slow down, its agenda. They have also made the case that President Barack Obama and congressional leaders must move left to ensure that the Democrats’ base will show up next November, and argument immigration reform proponents have been making  with increased intensity in recent weeks.

The “all-in” scenario is the one I have been expecting as the reality of their situation hits home when they go back to their districts and find protestors on their office steps, and their office phones in a puddle.

Here Comes The VAT Tax

Start your engines.  Nancy was talking about a Value Added Tax months ago and today the New York Times has released what appears to be the trial balloon article showing congress’ reluctance to have a VAT, but who may be forced to impose one because of out of control government spending, the $2.5 Trillion Senate Democrats’ health care bill, and the massive ballooning deficit.  The entire article has some very good information, but I am just posting the relevant excerpts.

Nancy Pelosi being interviewed by Charlie Rose at the beginning of October, 2009:

Many See the VAT Option as a Cure for Deficits

Runaway federal deficits have thrust a politically unsavory savior into the spotlight: a nationwide tax on goods and services.

Members of Congress, like their constituents, are squeamish about such ideas, instead suggesting spending cuts or higher taxes on the rich. But with a lack of political will to do the former, and a practical ceiling to how much revenue can be milked from the latter, economists across the political spectrum say a consumption tax may be inevitable once the economy fully recovers.

“We have to start paying our bills eventually,” said Charles E. McLure, a tax economist who worked in the Reagan administration. “This strikes me as the best and most obvious way of doing it.”

The favored route of economists is known as a value-added tax, which is a tax on goods and services that is collected at every step along the production chain, from raw material to a consumer’s shopping bag. Similar to a sales tax, it generally results in consumers paying more for the things they buy. The revenues could be used to pay for health care or other social programs, or just to pay down existing debt.

Since Barry, Harry, and Nancy are following the European model of socialism, it will not be a surprise when they add this on top of the existing tax structure just as they are following the UK’s model of socialized medicine.  If you still believe that a single payer health care system is not in the works, I have some very worthwhile bad assets to sell you.

To some foes of big government, though, the efficiency of the tax is also its fatal flaw. Conservatives worry that it enables the government to raise money with such little effort that it will encourage Washington to spend even more.

On the other hand, liberals are wary of value-added taxes because they are regressive. Poor people spend a higher portion of their income buying things than the rich, meaning lower-income people would be disproportionately hurt.

That is why countries often make other major changes to their tax code at the same time.

In Australia, the government imposed a value-added tax in the middle of an overhaul of the system in 2000, which included making the income tax system more progressive. “Many countries with VATs have income taxes that start out at higher income thresholds,” said James Poterba, an economics professor at M.I.T. Combining a broad-based VAT with a steeply progressive income tax, he said, avoids affecting the poor too much.

And here is the “take your medicine” quote.

Such political hurdles, along with a still-tentative economic recovery, make a consumption tax — or a tax increase of any kind — unlikely in the immediate future. But with economists like Kenneth Rogoff of Harvard predicting that federal tax revenues will need to rise by 20 to 30 percent in the next few years, politicians may hold their noses and decide this tax is the least worst option.

After everything we have seen of the Barry, Harry, and Nancy show, it is very hard to believe that they are here to help and not take every single dollar of compensation for our labors.  I cannot wait to fire this “do the extreme level of harm ‘with prejudice'” congress in 2010.

Nancy Wants All Your Money, And Your Neighbors, And…

OMFG! I am so praying for just a little bit of common sense in Washington, D.C.

Nancy Pelosi is definitely living in my little pony world.  She is once again receiving the Today’s AYFKM? Award for thinking that she is queen of the world, and is deserving of everybody’s cash.  If the NWO does actually happen, I have a feeling that Nancy is going to be so far down on the food chain, WE won’t even be able to see her.

Wall Street tax must be international: Pelosi

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Any tax imposed on financial transactions would have to take effect internationally to keep Wall Street jobs and related business from moving overseas, U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi said on Thursday.

What say we stop taxing every single person, item, transaction, etc.,  ‘ala the British Crown in the 1700’s?  Hmmm?  That might stop business from moving every single component of their companies overseas until there is absolutely nothing left here but desolation.

“It would have to be an international rule, not just a U.S. rule,” Pelosi said at a news conference. “We couldn’t do it alone, we’d have to do it as an international initiative.”

Several House Democrats have proposed a Wall Street tax to pay for job-creating legislation they plan to pass in December. The tax, which could raise $150 billion per year, would tap into widespread public outrage at Wall Street in the wake of the financial crisis.

They are using the emotions they ramped up against you.  How American is that?

But support is tepid among key legislators, especially those from the New York region who worry that finance jobs could disappear if the tax drives trading activity overseas.

The No. 4 Democrat in the House, Representative John Larson, said his proposal to impose a 0.25 percent tax on over-the-counter derivatives transactions would apply internationally.

“Part of our proposal would include that it would be international,” Larson told Reuters after meeting with other lawmakers about the jobs package.

Democratic Representative Peter DeFazio said his separate proposal, which would tax a wider array of trading activity, would cover all U.S. corporations and individuals no matter where their trades took place.

Pelosi and other Democratic leaders have emphasized that the proposal is merely one of many ideas in play.

“It hasn’t been developed to a high priority, but it has substantial currency in our caucus,” Pelosi said.

Go over and read the rest of the article becaue TurboTax Timmie doesn’t agree and I think it is because he hasn’t figured out how to get a cut yet.

Please take the poll – I may send the results to Nancy herself.

A Year Of Firsts, A Year Of Shame, Next Year The A**kicking Begins

Camille Paglia is receiving Today’s AYFKM? Award for an article I just read over at Salon.  2009 has been a year of numerous dark first time events in our country’s history, including the latest, Ft. Hood, “let’s not call the islamic jihadist terrorist anything other than a criminal” media spin.

Now I have an additional reason to be ashamed, as if the Marxist Apologist-in-Chief, 30 some communist czars running the country’s policy, and Rahm Emanuel weren’t enough to be ashamed of and want to apologize to the entire sane world for such a Coward-in-Chief, and the 69 million sheep that were led astray into voting these fascist children into office, I have been reminded that Nancy Pelosi and I are of the same gender.  You have no idea how disheartening that is, and what is worse, Camille Paglia is touting Nancy as some kind of Joan of Arc leading women to accomplish agendas darkly, just like the males in power. I wonder if Camille’s head was spinning on her shoulders while writing the following piece?  Why on earth would women need to be more like men when we are perfectly capable of just about anything, (and sometimes more), just the way we are?  How does Nancy stack up against the aforementioned Joan, Queen Elizabeth (1), or Hatshepsut?  P.A.T.H.E.T.I.C.

Pelosi’s victory for women

Sure, her healthcare bill is a mess, but her gritty maneuvering shows her mettle.

Well, that is definitely an interesting way to take a less than stellar piece of work and appear to make it a positive.  What is this?  Sesame Street?

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi scored a giant gain for feminism last weekend. In shoving her controversy-plagued healthcare reform bill to victory by a paper-thin margin, she conclusively demonstrated that a woman can be just as gritty, ruthless and arm-twisting in pursuing her agenda as anyone in the long line of fabled male speakers before her. Even a basic feminist shibboleth like abortion rights became just another card for Pelosi to deal and swap.

“A giant gain for feminism last weekend”? Are You Freakin’ Kidding Me?  Who in their right mind would or could be proud of someone doing such an infinitely shoddy job on such a foundation stone of American life, and more than likely, making dark deals and stunning her opponents with her ruthlessness, to get to the finish line? THAT is the role model we want for ourselves, our daughters, and our sons?  This is the stateswoman, and her methods that we want to be teaching our children about for decades to come?

Obama has ushered in the “It’s not how you play the game, it’s all about the win!” era with full in-your-face gusto, and Camille, being the good little liberal, has swallowed the teachings and is now regurgitating the dogma.

“…she conclusively demonstrated that a woman can be just as gritty, ruthless and arm-twisting in pursuing her agenda as anyone…”.  Once again AYFKM?!!!!!  Pelosi has just proved she can travel on an even lower road, lose all moral underpinnings, and shred the Constitution just as well as the boys, and for that, we should look to her leadership as women?  We don’t need someone LIKE NANCY PELOSI conclusively demonstrating the spine we already have and show each and every day of our lives.

It was a stunningly impressive recovery for someone who seemed to be coming apart at the seams last summer, when a sputtering, rattled Pelosi struggled to deal with the nationwide insurgency of town hall protesters — reputable, concerned citizens whom she outrageously tried to tar as Nazis. Whether or not her bill survives in the Senate is immaterial: Pelosi’s hard-won, trench-warfare win sets a new standard for U.S. women politicians and is certainly well beyond anything the posturing but ineffectual Hillary Clinton has ever achieved.

“…Pelosi’s hard-won, trench-warfare win sets a new standard for U.S. women politicians…” This “new” standard is the reason that the 9/12 Moms exist, that exists, that female bloggers and their readers are having to shoulder the added weight of writing, researching, and educating a public that is just starting to wake up.

Here is the rub, ladies and gentlemen; true Americans believe that it is not whether you win or lose, but rather how you play the game.  It is a basic tenet of being an American, and that which separates us from the Obamas, Pelosis, Chavezes, and Hitlers of the world. True American Patriots will always be at a disadvantage at the beginning of any battle because as a people with a moral compass, we will not SINK to the depths that certain others among us will, which begins the race of the tortoise and the hare; and we all know how that ended.  Keep your chins up, and continue walking in the light.

And now, for something completely different, go here and smile.

Freddie Joins Fannie In Posting LOSSES; $25.2 BILLION Combined

Freddie Joins Fannie In Posting LOSSES; $25.2 BILLION Combined

Burn! Baby! Burn!

This is going to seem like a really boring post, but somebody besides Market Ticker has to keep track of our money being torched right before our eyes (and against our will).

In all the hubbub of House Call rallies, stealth healthcare votes at 11:15pm on a Saturday night, Barney Frank being present when his partner was arrested on pot charges, and the kenyan communist the pResident insulting the families and the memories of the islamic jihadist murdered soldiers at Ft. Hood, y’all might want to know that the people that want to run your healthcare delivery system with 118 new agencies are still backing the two mortgage lenders and guarantors who just lost $25.2 Billion of our money and now want more.

From Reuters:

Freddie Mac posts $5 billion loss

  • On 7:00 pm EST, Friday November 6, 2009

NEW YORK (Reuters) – Freddie Mac (NYSE:FRE – News; NYSE:FRE – News), the second largest provider of U.S. residential mortgage funding, on Friday posted a loss of $5 billion in the third quarter and predicted it would need more government support amid a “prolonged deterioration” in housing.

Increases in the value of securities Freddie Mac held over the period helped buoy its net worth, however, erasing its need to tap government funds for a second straight quarter to stay solvent while continuing to buy and guarantee home loans.

Including a $1.3 billion dividend payment on senior preferred stock bought by the Treasury in previous quarters, Freddie Mac’s third-quarter loss increases to $6.3 billion.

The home funding company’s loss comes amid a rise in provisions for credit losses to $7.6 billion in the quarter, up 46 percent compared with the previous quarter, as delinquencies worsened on loans it guarantees. Provisions will remain high this quarter, it added.

“I would say we are just beginning to see the impact of the chargeoffs on their guarantee book,” said Janaki Rao, vice president of mortgage research at Morgan Stanley in New York.

Its larger rival Fannie Mae (NYSE:FNM – News; NYSE:FNM – News) on Thursday said it would need $15 billion from the U.S. Treasury after a whopping $18.9 billion third-quarter loss.

Results at Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae are widely watched as a barometer of the U.S. housing market since they own or back nearly half of outstanding mortgages. (emphasis mine)

The losses have presented a dilemma to Congress as it wants to protect taxpayers’ money but is also counting on the companies to undertake foreclosure prevention efforts which are significantly adding to expenses.

If Congress, and in this case, the Democrats, wanted to protect our money, they would not be giving it away in tankerfuls to every tom, dick, and peggy the moocher.

In order to ease the terms of loans under the Obama administration’s Making Home Affordable refinancing program, the companies must buy the mortgages out of securities, and write down their value. Seeking alternatives to foreclosures also means bad loans sit on their books longer.

This is where Deed-To-Lease from Fannie Mae comes in.  The government is about to become your landlord and take care of all those pesky household maintenance issues right alongside your gall bladder operation. Lovely.

Despite signs of recovery in home sales and prices, rising delinquencies and unemployment levels mean the housing market is still fragile, Freddie said. High unemployment, foreclosures and excess inventory will impede the recovery “for some time” and push house prices lower, the company said.

Could it possibly be the rising unemployment, now at 10.2%, has something to do with rising delinquencies?

This means that Freddie Mac’s survival will continue to depend on support from the government, which forced the company and Fannie Mae into conservatorship in September 2008.

Freddie Mac has taken $51.7 billion since then while Fannie Mae’s draw will rise to $60.9 billion.

What’s $112.6 Billion compared to Nancy Pelosi’s red crayon math which states that the new healthcare bill will only cost $894 Billion?  We all know it is going to be more like $15 TRILLION.

To close on a lighter note; the Dems just hanged themselves with that House healthcare fiasco.

UPDATE: 6:16 ET – Nancy Pelosi is coming to the House Floor to speak.  Even though the coverage of this is making me completely ill, I probably will have to continue to watch the largest trainwreck in our history, and watch Pelosi come out and be her usual lobomotized self.  What’s her disapproval rating today?

UPDATE:  Nancy Pelosi using the words “entitlement reform” in the same sentence as this health care bill?  ARE YOU FREAKIN’ KIDDING ME?

Let me repost the simple common sense economic facts of a democratic health care bill from David Buckner.

The Economics Of Dem Healthcare Reform For Dummies

With everything that is currently being tossed at us since way before the 2008 election, quite a few things get missed just because we don’t have the time to read everything, all the time.

I ran across an article today from economist David Buckner which I think explains the dems’ plan pretty simply in economic terms. Here are a few tidbits; make sure to go over and read the whole article.

The Snake Oil Sales Pitch: A Question of Healthcare Economics

Unfortunately, facts tend to be the first casualty of political banter. As one commentator noted this morning, if you tell a lie enough times, people will begin to believe it. So, lets return to the facts and basic economics 101 (a class all law makers should be required to take prior to starting their first term and every two years thereafter).

Fact #1:

If you increase the demand for a product without increasing the supply, there will be a shortage. Let me say that a different way: if you increase the number of people buying a product without increasing the number of products (suppliers) there will be a shortage. There is no way around this.

If you insure 15 million more people without adding any doctors, there will be a shortage. Say what you will, promise what you may, all the kings horses and all the kings men will never be able to put 15 million more humpty dumptys together again, UNLESS you increase the number of doctors!! Nothing in the current legislation offers such an incentive or allowance–if anything, quite the opposite. Time and again the question has been asked and each time the response is “everyone will be covered,” as if that answers the question.

Bottom line:

Shortages WILL occur until there are more doctors, more nurses, more hospitals, more clinics. Promises of “universal coverage” cannot overcome the reality of “universal shortages”. One might accurately argue we will have equal opportunity shortages. That statement would be true. Nevertheless, there will be shortages and the sellers KNOW IT!

Fact #2:

Shortages cause prices to increase and providers to ration their services. Again, this is an Economics 101 principle overlooked (or neglected) by the salesman. If you create a shortage for any product, prices will increase or the shortage will REQUIRE doctors to ration their time and their resources.

Doctors will charge more for less. With more demand than they can manage, they will have to determine where they spend their time and how they allocate their resources. If they are paid the same for an easy case as they are for a difficult one, you do the math. Daily triage will be compounded by the mere volume of patients now in their waiting room. They can choose to serve 15 patients who need a simple check-up, or use that time to manage the chronic care of a single aging cancer patient. Triage favors the healthy.

Bottom Line:

Rationing will occur. To be clear, rationing will always occur to some degree. At present it occurs based on who can pay and who is covered, which is the “market force” approach to rationing. You want it, you can get it if you pay for it. If you can’t pay for it, the government will. However, a universal government run system would create a false market and remove the patient from the decision as it has with Medicare and Medicaid. If you want it, you MIGHT be able to get it. You the patient will no longer control that process and doctors will no longer respond to real demand. Doctors will get paid whether they serve the patient or not. In fact, to reduce costs as promised, the government will have to limit what doctors can do. The incentive to listen to the patient is removed as the government is the customer, not the patient.

Fact #3:

If you lower prices, demand for a product goes up. Again, said another way, if you offer insurance at a lower price (the government option), people will buy that insurance.

This may sound good initially. But beware! One must consider the fallout and false perception created from such a move. Promises that a government run option WILL NOT put insurers out of business are false. Technically, the government will not physically go in and shut down the insurers. However, they might just as well do that, as the results will be the same. If you offer a government plan at a lower price, with the same coverage as a private plan, everyone will buy it. They are not required by law to buy that plan but if the price is lower for the same products, why wouldn’t they? To say this is an OPTION would suggest that other alternatives will continue to exist. They can’t! They can’t compete when the pricing of the government plan is a false price. The very thrust of the government promise is to lower prices without offering less. This is snake oil in its purest form! Unless the government addresses COSTS rather than PRICES only, this option is a fraud. It is healthcare “dumping,” the very practice the U.S. has blamed China and other countries of doing to capture markets and create an anti-competitive environment.

Bottom Line:

A government option is essentially healthcare “dumping” which will result in a removal of healthcare insurers, leaving a monopoly subsidized by tax payers. False prices without addressing real costs leaves a gap that can only be filled by taking more from the taxpayer. Promises of cost reductions and fraud elimination under a government plan beg the question, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? Why should we believe the government, acting as a monopoly, would now be motivated to find and eliminate fraud more than ever before? What changed? Why now? Why haven’t you done it already? Once the monopoly owns the market, prices can skyrocket as there is no competition to place a check and balance on the government. If history serves us well, this would mean U.S. Postal Service style healthcare. No service, not incentive, no market efficiencies.

Of course, there is more to consider before buying:

– The government has never run an efficient system (of any kind).

– There are no successful examples of efficient government run healthcare (anywhere).

– There is no incentive to innovate if prices are fixed.

– Costs are never avoided. They are just passed along to taxpayers.

– A call for change doesn’t mean a mandate to “JUST DO SOMETHING

Any questions?

Dems To Walk The Plank For Pelosi Healthcare On Saturday

Dems To Walk The Plank For Pelosi Healthcare On Saturday

Socialism? Take The First Left

Desperate times call for drastic measures.  Case in point; rushing the largest un-Constitutional expansion of government in the history of the United States on a rare Saturday vote.  Are any of us surprised?  Nope.

Nancy Pelosi does not have the votes in the house yet to pass her gargantuan 2,000 page monstrosity that very few people have actually been able to read in it’s entirety…so…it is time to pull out all the stops and descend even farther into the pit of backroom arm-twisting, media spin, Chicago style thuggery, and whatever else passes for statesmanship these days in Washington, D.C.

Does one single democrat realize how much their party is degrading the reputations of the Presidency, the House, the Senate, and America in general?  Does one single democrat realize how much their tantrums, name-calling, and sneaky backroom maneuvering is traumatizing the entire nation, and more than likely, giving our allies in the world a moment of pause? Does it make it morally right for the democrats to plunge into the depths and follow the lead of squishy republicans with no moral compass just because Bush and the republicans did so earlier?

All of this speaks to the corruption and greed that has taken over OUR government when Nancy can call a special vote with the implications that ‘it’s legal’, even if it is not the ‘morally right’ thing to do.  I know many thoughtful Americans that take longer than the congress has taken with this healthcare manifesto to make decisions on choices that are much less life altering.

Aren’t you glad that Nancy, lacking grace, statesmanship, intelligence, and the maturity of thought and character to do what is right, is third in line for what is left of the presidency right after Joe Biden who believes that we have to spend trillions of dollars to keep from going bankrupt?  If anybody really looks at the people in charge, one would have to say America is definitely in decline with the amount of spoiled brats running around D.C. doing whatever they please without even a “by your leave” to the American People.  See Alan Grayson’s juvenile antics if you need a refresher.

Fortunately, for us, there is a “Healthcare Intervention” about to happen today on the Capitol Steps at Noon with Rep. Michele Bachmann, Jon Voight, Mark Levin, various Republicans and, (hopefully thousands), highly upset Americans to stop THE DEFINING MOMENT when our country is catapulted from capitalism to socialism.  That is, if Nancy does not pull some special brand of ‘Speaker Of The House’ thuggery and change the security protocols outside the Capitol and BLOCK AMERICANS from their OWN HOUSE.  One can hope that Nancy does not do something THAT lacking in little gray cells.

But I digress….

House expected to vote on health bill Saturday

House leaders put in motion the machinery to hold a rare Saturday vote on the most far-reaching expansion of the health-care system in more than 40 years.

Even so, they were still locking down support Wednesday among a handful of holdouts, with the biggest bloc dissatisfied with the measure’s handling of abortion.

Many Democrats said passing the measure has become even more crucial politically after Republicans won governor’s races in Virginia and New Jersey this week. So Democratic whips worked their rank and file, while House leaders tried to secure a momentum-building endorsement from the AARP, the nation’s largest association of people over 50. President Obama, meanwhile, laid plans to visit Capitol Hill on Thursday or Friday to address House Democrats in a final push for his signature domestic initiative.

House Republicans are united in opposition to the majority’s health bill, so to pass the measure, Democrats will need at least 218 votes from their 258-member caucus. That group grew by two in Tuesday’s elections: While some Democrats bemoaned the loss of the governor’s mansions, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) cheerfully prepared to swear in newly elected Democrats from New York and California, both of whom have pledged to support the health bill.

“From our standpoint, we picked up votes,” Pelosi said.

House leaders said that they were confident of reaching their goal in time for a Saturday debate on the most significant changes to the nation’s health-care system since the creation of Medicare in 1965. They released 42 pages of amendments to the 1,990-page health package unveiled last week, a move that started the clock ticking on their pledge to make the legislation publicly available for 72 hours before lawmakers are asked to pass judgment.

“We are now in the final stage of moving this critical bill through the House,” Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (D-Md.) said in a statement. “Our members have worked very hard on this legislation, and I believe that as a result, we have a strong product that will lower costs and provide greater health care stability for all Americans.”

Unless, of course, you live in Hawaii.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: 11.04.09 – I am still looking The Hill has more information about the following “Roll Call” article:

Democrats Eye 6 p.m. Saturday Health Care Vote

(The Hill:) House could vote Saturday on health bill

The House could hold a rare Saturday vote this weekend to pass its healthcare reform legislation.

An aide to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Wednesday that a vote could happen at 6 p.m. on Saturday, a schedule House Rules Committee Chairwoman Louise Slaughter (D-N.Y.) suggested in reports Wednesday afternoon.

“It could happen at 6 p.m. on Saturday, but no final decisions have been made,” said Nadeam Elshami, a spokesman for Pelosi.

House Rules Chairwoman Louise Slaughter (D-N.Y.) said the goal is to finish Saturday evening. It’s not clear at this point, she said, whether the goal is to finish by 6 p.m. or start voting at 6 p.m.

A Saturday vote would fit within a timeline established after the Manager’s Amendment on the House bill was filed late Tuesday evening. House Democratic leaders had agreed to Republican demands that they post their final bill online for at least 72 hours before a final vote, meaning the earliest that a vote could be held is late Friday.Slaughter and the Rules Committee will meet at 2 p.m. on Friday to determine the rules for the final health debate. The vote would bump up against the Nov. 11 Veterans Day holiday, on and after which lawmakers had been expected to recess until delays in passing the health bill had led Democratic leaders to threaten to cancel the break.

Bachmann Calls on the American People to Bring the Town Hall To Washington
“This is the deciding moment and the people need to make sure their representatives know where they stand.”

Washington, D.C., Nov 2

WHAT:            Health Care “House Call” on Washington Press Conference

WHO:              Republican Members of Congress
Actor Jon Voight, Radio Host Mark Levin, and others.

WHEN:            Thursday, November 5, 2009 from 12:00-2

WHERE:          West Front of the U.S. Capitol (House Side)

Congresswoman Michele Bachmann released the following statement as the House of Representatives approaches a vote on the Democrats’ health care reform proposal:

“The American people spoke loud and clear at town hall meetings all across the country throughout August.  But, it would appear that Congress didn’t hear a word they had to say.  The Democrats’ latest health care proposal unveiled late last week may be packaged a little differently, but it’s the same old bad bill as before.

“This bill is a trillion-dollar, budget-busting, government takeover of our health care system.  It will put bureaucrats between people and their health care.  It will lead to rationed care, hurting the most vulnerable amongst us first.  It will break the bank, leaving our children to pay the bill with diminished freedoms and dwindling prosperity.

“The American people need to stand up again and make sure that Congress hears them this time.  Speaker Pelosi is putting her bill on fast track to a vote – and it remains to be seen if the House will even get a chance to vote on the commonsense Republican alternatives.  The people need to make a House Call on Washington this week and tell their Representatives to vote no to a government take-over of one-fifth of our economy.  This is gangster government at its worst.

“I urge all Americans to come to Washington this Thursday.  Come and meet up with your Representative and tell them that you want to control your health care.”

From Harry Riley of Patriots For America: (go here to meet up with like minded patriots)

Rep Michele Bachmann, R-MN has just announced a “storm the capitol” next Thursday, November 5th at 12:00 Noon.

This appears to be in conjunction with Vets For Freedom action that is occurring the same day…….see PFA homepage.

Any and everyone that can make it to the US Capitol, Washington, DC to meet Rep Bachmann on the Capitol steps at 12:00 noon is desperately needed.

The goal is have hundreds or thousands show up and walk with Rep Bachman through the US Capitol advising Representatives to reject the House of Representatives Healthcare Bill………

If the HealthCare Bill Pelosi announced on Wednesday is passed, Rep Bachmann said, “it will be the crown jewel of socialism” in America…….everyone will be forced into a single payer, government run healthcare program…….

I am personally urging, pleading, for everyone to give this request the most serious consideration….if you can possibly be in DC and meet Rep Bachmann on the US Capitol steps at 12:00 Noon, please, please do it…..

Michelle Bachman on Pelosi Health Care Bill: “This Is the Crown jewel of Socialism”

Rep. Michelle Bachman is calling all Americans to join her on the steps of the Capital Building in Washington DC on Thursday November 5th to stop “the Crown Jewel of Socialism” – the democrat’s bill to take over the healthcare industry.

(Author’s Note: My apologies to Michelle Bachmann for dropping the second “n” on her name. It was completely unintentional.)

Additional information from Americans For Prosperity and Michelle Bachmann:

  • The House votes on their version of the health care bill Friday, 11/6.
  • The Senate votes on their final version on Monday, 11/16.
  • The FINAL version of the House bill comes out Monday, 11/2. The House debates the bill on Wed, Thurs and Fri.
  • She asked that we call your rep every day, from Monday straight through to Friday.
  • She asked whomever can make it to drive to Wash., DC and meet with her on the west steps of the Capitol to protest on Thursday, 11/5, at 12 Noon.  (Remember OUR “house call” visit to the local offices of our rep and senators’ offices downtown at 11:00AM on that same date!)
  • The Federal Gov’t, since Obama took office, now controls 30% of the US economy… with Nationalized Health Care at another 18%, they will control a total of 48%!
  • $500 billion taken out of Medicare to help pay for this monstrosity.
  • $4,000 per year will be added to the average family’s health insurance policy expenses.
  • Loss of 5.5 million jobs in the health care industry and related fields in 2010.
  • Rep. Bachmann was begging people on the conference call to bury their reps in phone calls, faxes, e-mails and, most importantly, to show up in person.
  • Then repeat the above for your senators the week of 11/9…

Please forward this to everyone you can and ask them to register their email address at We need to connect now more than ever.

According to Rep Brady it looks like this bill could come up for vote as early as Thursday, Nov. 5th. There is no time to waste. We must do all we can to kill the bill in the House.

Here’s the Plan:

  1. Get to Washington on Thursday, November 5th if you can
  2. Contact specific Texas Democrats
  3. Contact Blue Dog Democrats

There are a few Texas Democrats we need to focus specifically on.  This is based on their constituent base, voting record, etc.  Their names appear below in RED, with contact info underneath.  Please call/email/fax all of the following representatives.  The most effective method is a handwritten fax.  Tell them Texas does not want Government Run Health Care!!
