I dragged this video out of the vault because Daniel Hannan’s viewpoint of our Constitution and England’s socialized medicine are worth another listen. Y’all can ignore Beck at this point…(when I figure out why all the richest people in the world are trying to stuff their coffers and pockets in the face of a collapse, I’ll let you know. If you know, please enlighten us!)
Now, for Obamacare; I could be wrong, but I really do not think I am. I have been saying for months that this abomination of progressive control over our lives is going to get shoved through. It is the centerpiece of collapsing our Constitution. We still need a plan on how to get this democratic piece of shit repealed after the House passes the Senate version, and Obama skips the Senate reconciliation part and just signs the Senate bill into law. (See the bottom of this post for the update on that skipping process. And once again, Legal Insurrection gets credit for predicting this last week.)
Think I’m joking? The following bill was introduced by Zachary Space (D-OH) yesterday, and the text is not yet available. This bill is being slid into committee by a no name congressman who votes 94% of time along party lines. This bill also has NO cosponsors; assumption being ‘maybe they won’t notice’.
I am sure this will probably be worse than just it’s title. Remember Daniel Hannan saying that the National Health Service is the 3rd biggest employer in the world? England has 70 million citizens. We have over 300 million.
To direct the Secretary of Health and Human Services to develop a strategic plan to retrain displaced workers to become health care professionals serving areas with a shortage of such professionals, and for other purposes.
All the fumbling and bumbling that appears to be happening in the White House, House, and Senate is an act. These people have a plan and they aren’t letting anyone get in the way. Get ready for Obamacare.
(I’ll put up the text when it becomes available…which may be never considering how hard it has been to read the various health care bills.)
The other day I exposed the fact that Harry Reid switched the language in the House-passed H.R. 3590 Service Members Home Ownership Tax Act of 2009 and inserted the Senate version of the healthcare bill via a manager’s amendment in order to meet the requirement that all legislation raising taxes must originate in the House.
The Senate passed the revised bill with the healthcare language in it, and now the House must revote on the deceptively gutted changed bill because, according to the Constitution, the identical bill must pass both the House and Senate in order to be signed into law. And, once the Senate Health Care bill pass the House, President Obama will sign it right away.
The threat of reconciliation in the Senate is hollow. There isn’t going to be any reconciliation.
On January 31, 2010, before the House was set to take up the Senate bill, WH Press Secretary Robert Gibbs, during an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union” stated:
“If the House would take up the Senate bill then that bill would go to the president’s desk,” Gibbs said.
For further confirmation, here is the audio of that exchange. Listen from about 4:20 to 5.00 and you will here Gibbs confirm that once the House passes the Senate’s version of the healthcare bill, it’s a done deal. No talk of reconciliation here, because reconciliation is not needed at all.
Medicare Advantage participants are protected from cuts to their benefits in 3 democratic counties in Florida; Broward, Miami Dade, and Palm Beach. ARE YOU FREAKIN KIDDING ME? Nope, of course not, we know who we are dealing with; the Progressive Democratic Socialist Party controlled congress that wants to un-Constitutionally mandate health care. Even died-in-the-wool dem, Ellen Ratner, is not for this type of game.
Sen. Mike Crapo:
Specifically Section 3201G, of the Reid bill, buried deep in the bill on Page 894, has a $5 Billion provision drafted to prevent the drastic cuts in Medicare Advantage Program from impacting those enrollees that preside primarily in 3 counties in Florida; Broward, Miami Dade, and Palm Beach.
The pResident made a special trip to the Hill today to give the democratic caucus a “pep talk” about how they will be going down in history when they pass the lynchpin of socialist policies health care reform. Let’s not forget the transparency angle as deals were being made behind closed doors….again!
President Barack Obama gave Senate Democrats a “pep talk” on healthcare Sunday, telling them they stood to make history if they passed a bill expanding healthcare coverage to millions of Americans.
Obama, during a rare Sunday Democratic caucus in the Senate, said that the healthcare reform bill, which seeks to provide coverage to more than 30 million uninsured Americans, is “the most important social legislation since Social Security,” according to Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.).
“He reminded us why we’re here, he reminded us why we run for office and he reminded us how many people are counting on us to come through,” said Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.).
Senate Democrats leaving the meeting expressed confidence that they would eventually pass a bill that would help Americans and would help Democrats politically as they enter into a crucial mid-term election year.
If they passed the bill, Democrats would be “rewarded in ’10, and in 10 years, in 20 years, in 30 and 40,” Baucus said. “Nothing’s more important.”
Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pa.) said that Obama’s message was most effective when he was “putting into context how important [the healthcare bill] was to the economy and what this means in terms of how people judge this Congress and what happens to us.”
Obama said that despite their progress, Democrats should pass healthcare to show Americans that they can tackle big problems, Casey said.
“We tend to forget we’ve been about as productive a Congress as there’s been in a long time, but we’ve got to get this done to demonstrate that we can get something this substantial done,” Casey said.
Baucus said that Democrats would be able to get the 60 votes to invoke cloture on the bill to end debate and eventually pass it. He predicted that would happen within a week or two.
What is important about Sen. Casey’s statement about being productive goes to the newest marketing scheme come up with by the Democrats and announced this past Friday. The reality vs. the rhetoric is amazing.
Think back, way back, all the way back to September of 2008 when Hank Paulson came out with a 3 page “plan” and told Bush that we were all doomed if the government did not bailout the mammoth banks. Remember all those Americans that started writing, calling, and faxing their representatives to tell them “NO!” and to let the sick banks fail and just the get the mess over once and for all? All that calling and resistance netted us a $700 Billion T.A.R.P.
Remember Stimulus 2.0, a whopping $787 Billion$3.27 TRILLION that we screamed “NO!” over, and they passed it anyway? Remember the $410 Billion omnibus porkulus bill that was the impetus for the Tax Day Tea Parties, which the congress passed even though people were protesting in the streets? Remember when we melted the switchboard at the capital over Cap and Tax, the House health care bill, and then the Senate health care cloture vote? And what did they do? They went against our wishes and voted FOR all of this “dollar crashing” spending.
Just 38% of voters now favor the health care plan proposed by President Obama and congressional Democrats. That’s the lowest level of support measured for the plan in nearly two dozen tracking polls conducted since June.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 56% now oppose the plan.
Which brings me to the point of this post, the dog and pony show for health care has begun. The distraction of “maybe they won’t pass it” commentary has started. Rest assured, these asshats are going to pass some form of health care RAPE and the Spineless-In-Charge will sign it and I am betting it will happen before New Year’s Eve. You have seen the rush that the House went through, the rush that occurred in the Senate and the two Saturday votes. If you think that Harry and Nancy are going to allow 2 months of debate, you are out of your freakin’ minds. If anything, you will see legislators looking like hamsters on crack.
Here are some examples of the dog and pony show this congress is going to put on for the American people. Remember Lieberman stating he would filibuster a bill in the Senate? I don’t have to wait to see if that happens. I know it isn’t going to.
I am NOT SAYING we give up and do not call, write, email, and fax. I will continue to stand behind that peaceful, American way of dissent, because we need to be on the record as OPPOSING this continued financial rape of the American people and future generations, but I am now looking at the ways we get every single piece of clunker legislation totally repealed after we dump this congress in 2010, and this asshat pretending to be president in 2012, (or hopefully sooner).
What is about to occur on the internet, on the news shows, and in the daily newspapers will be a show to rival anything in Hollywood or Broadway. Please do not get sucked emotionally into their little game of keeping you off-balance and upset. Clearer heads need to prevail.
I know numerous people, republicans, indies, and current and former dems that would follow this woman to hell and back because they believe that she is real, sincere, patriotic, and a protector of our Constitution and our rights. I happen to think they are right!
I knew that Sarah resigning her office as governor was the shot across the dem’s bow, and they knew it also. That is why they came out and tried to decimate her even more after she announced her resignation and after her farewell speech to Alaskans.
It’s been a rather quiet week on the Palin front until today, and it is the day I have been waiting for because we know just a little bit of Sarah goes a long way. (Unlike a certain democratic resident that just has to beat a dead horse on national television daily to the point where a 79 year old Iowan woman is selling her tvs.)
As more Americans delve into the disturbing details of the nationalized health care plan that the current administration is rushing through Congress, our collective jaw is dropping, and we’re saying not just no, but hell no!
The Democrats promise that a government health care system will reduce the cost of health care, but as the economist Thomas Sowell has pointed out, government health care will not reduce the cost; it will simply refuse to pay the cost. And who will suffer the most when they ration care? The sick, the elderly, and the disabled, of course. The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama’s “death panel” so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their “level of productivity in society,” whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil.
Health care by definition involves life and death decisions. Human rights and human dignity must be at the center of any health care discussion.
Rep. Michele Bachmann highlighted the Orwellian thinking of the president’s health care advisor, Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, the brother of the White House chief of staff, in a floor speech to the House of Representatives. I commend her for being a voice for the most precious members of our society, our children and our seniors.
We must step up and engage in this most crucial debate. Nationalizing our health care system is a point of no return for government interference in the lives of its citizens. If we go down this path, there will be no turning back. Ronald Reagan once wrote, “Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we’ll ever see on this earth.” Let’s stop and think and make our voices heard before it’s too late.
Is there any way to impeach this walking botox container for just the sheer amount of crap that comes out of her mouth? Is there such a thing as a “lack of confidence vote” in this country. Nancy is 3rd in line for the presidency. Does that not scare the BEJESUS out of everybody? We actually have to wait until November 2010 to hopefully oust her butt? ^&#%#)*^^$#! Is there such a thing as a national recall of a national level elected official?
BTW Nancy, health care reform is NOT URGENT. IT IS NOT AN EMERGENCY just because you say so! Stop using the Cloward-Piven Strategy to overload the system! Would not a better use of your time and our money be to cut taxes on individuals and small businesses so that jobs can be created, instead of adding almost $2 Trillion to the deficit with Obama DeathCare in addition to the trillions that Hussein has added to our deficit with his other boondoggles?
THIS IS WHAT STIMULUS PACKAGES ARE ABOUT: WARNING EXPLICIT LANGUAGE – Pulp Fiction – Mia Overdoses:
Want to know the truth about the strategy to move every American onto single payer health care where a bureaucrat decides whether you live or die? Nothing says “the truth” like tape; always get tape:
Everybody should be aware by now that the Liberal Left wing of the Democratic Party is completely pissing off the Conservative Wing (The Blue Dog Dems), and the left is hell-bent on getting this legislation passed as it is the first step in the total control of Americans without a shot being fired.
There have been rumblings about Nancy Pelosi, Rahm Emanuel, Henry Waxman, the Blue Dogs, and this legislation going for a vote next week.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will bypass the committee working on the chamber’s health-care reform bill and put the legislation to a full floor vote by next week, Rep. Tom Price said Friday.
“My sense as of last night is her plan is now to bring the bill to the floor,” said Mr. Price, a Georgia Republican and orthopedic doctor. He spoke on The Washington Times “America’s Morning News” radio show. “We’ve witnessed some remarkable conversations and discussions between the speaker and others that leads me to believe she’s going to pull a power play.”
Mrs. Pelosi, California Democrat, participated in a three-hour meeting Thursday on Capitol Hill in which she and White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel tried to negotiate with fiscally conservative Democrats on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, where work on the bill has stopped.
WASHINGTON (CNN) — House Democrats split sharply over the issue of health care reform Friday as negotiations between a committee chairman and party conservatives broke down.
A key leader of the party’s conservative faction later warned the party leadership not to ram the current version of the health care bill through by circumventing the traditional legislative process.
The escalating tension within the ranks of House Democrats raised new questions about the bill’s prospects.
House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Henry Waxman told reporters on Capitol Hill that he is willing to keep talking with members of the Blue Dog coalition — an influential group of fiscal conservatives — but also made clear he intends to move forward with the legislation.
Waxman, a California Democrat, indicated that he would bypass a committee vote if necessary and bring the bill directly to the House floor for a final vote.
“We’re not going to let (the Blue Dogs) empower the Republicans. I don’t see any other alternative,” he said.
I thought this was about the American people, not a pissing match between the dems and repubs?
Rep. Mike Ross of Arkansas, one of the leaders of the 52-member Blue Dog coalition, predicted that the bill would fail if Waxman circumvented the committee.
“I think it would be a huge mistake if they removed the bill … and simply (took) it to the House floor,” he said.
Ross is one of seven Blue Dog Democrats on Waxman’s committee. Combined with the Republicans, they have the votes to prevent the committee’s passage of the bill.
“We’re not empowering Republicans,” Ross insisted. “We’re trying to save this bill and save our party. … We’re every much Democrats as anyone else that’s on the committee.”
I like that comment “…save our party.” It says volumes about how the Blue Dogs feel about the Obama administration and the liberal left wing of their party. I think they are realizing that they are going to be decimated if they keep ramming unread bills that cost trillions through congress.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said earlier in the week that she believes she already has the votes to pass the current version of the health care plan. Ross, however, insisted Friday that Pelosi was wrong.
“It’s not just the seven of us on the Energy and Commerce Committee that are conservative Democrats that have concerns with the bill,” he said.
“It’s almost the entire Blue Dog coalition, and I can tell you if (the Democratic leadership tries) to bring it up for a vote on the House floor, it would be a mistake,” said Ross.
Remember when Obama said that he would unite us? This is a three-way fight if you don’t include the American people. Amazing, truly amazing.
Remember Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) from the above video stating:
“A public option will put the private insurance industry out of business AND lead to single payer.” ” My single payer friends…he was right! The man was right.”
“This is not a principled fight, this is a fight about strategy for getting there, and I believe we will!”
Jan made those comments on April 18th, 2009, and on May 5, 2009 she did not even make an attempt to walk it back. Rather, she just changed the subject.
Many of us have known for a very long time that nothing, and I mean NOTHING is done by accident with this administration. Y’all have realized by now that every single event surrounding this “residency” is planned, orchestrated, rehearsed, and every possible contingency is taken into account before the event is allowed to happen. You know this, right?
At least five times today I stated that the ‘the police acted stupidly’ comment made by Bambi on Wednesday night was so over the top that it had to be an actual planned event with the distinct possibility that it was a distract and deflect measure. That may not be the only reason, but it is the usual one with the Bambi think tank inside the WH. He knew exactly what he was going to say if he had to walk it back, and he gets an “F” for his apology. He never meant to apologize. Put this whole situation into perspective; how long did it take Barack Obama to make mention of the killing of Private William Long by the islamic jihadist?
It seems Rush has the same thought process, (I should be frightened, I know), and he passionately states everything that we have been saying to each other and screaming at our TVs for quite some time.
So smartypants readers; here is the walking back video and you tell me why he made such an incredibly stupid comment. What was the outcome that he was trying to achieve with all the news coverage of his comment and the ensuing media circus surrounding it? Slow the momentum of his tanking numbers, give cover to Nancy and Rahm while they twisted the arms of the Blue Dogs, steal the camera from the republicans hammering his handling of the economy tied to healthcare….? (Update: 7.26.09: Go here.)
Yesterday, the director of the CBO, Douglas Elmendorf, (also a former senior fellow at the Brookings Institute 2007-2009), was “invited” to the White House to meet with the resident’s “key budget and health advisors”, and outside experts to discuss “achieving cost savings in health reform”.
I am supposing that people would not be making such an issue about this visit if it weren’t for Bambi’s Chicago thuggery record. Here are just a few examples and don’t be fooled by the titles:
Republicans on Wednesday criticized as inappropriate a meeting President Obama held Monday with the director of the Congressional Budget Office, Douglas Elmendorf.
Elmendorf, a Democratic appointee, has been a thorn in the side of President Obama and congressional Democrats for the way he has analyzed health care reform legislation. In their view, Elmendorf hasn’t sufficiently given their health care reform proposals enough credit for cutting costs – which has caused them political problems in getting the legislation passed. Last week, frustrated at one analysis by Elmendorf, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., snapped, “what he should do is maybe run for Congress.”
“No one blames Mr. Elmendorf for accepting an invitation from the President of the United States,” House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, said in a statement.“The issue is whether it was appropriate for the White House to invite him to discuss pending legislation before Congress at all.”
CBO is tasked with providing “objective, nonpartisan, and timely analyses to aid in economic and budgetary decisions on the wide array of programs covered by the federal budget.”
The White House flatly rejected the idea that there was anything untoward about the invitation or the meeting, which took place on Monday for just under an hour. In addition to the president and Elmendorf, present in the meeting were White House officials such as Assistant to the President for Legislative Affairs Phil Schiliro, Director of the White House Office of Health Reform Nancy-Ann DeParle, Office of Management and Budget director Peter Orszag (a former CBO director himself), National Economic Council Director Larry Summers, chair of the Council of Economic Advisers Christy Romer, senior adviser David Axelrod, and press secretary Robert Gibbs.
Others were there as well, including Department of Health and Human Services adviser Meena Seshamani, Harvard University economist David Cutler and Alice Rivlin of the Brookings Institute, who was founding director of CBO from 1975-1983.
Wow, a heck of a list of heavy hitters. Once again, for those of you new to the Monster, check out the links on the backgrounds of these people.
Paul Warburg became known as a persuasive advocate of central banking in America, in 1907 publishing the pamphlets “Defects and Needs of Our Banking System” and “A Plan for A Modified Central Bank”. His efforts were successful in 1913 with the founding of the Federal Reserve System. He was appointed a member of the first Federal Reserve Board by President Woodrow Wilson, serving until 1918.
In 1919 he founded and became first chairman of the American Acceptance Council. He organized and became the first chairman of the International Acceptance Bank of New York in 1921. International Acceptance was acquired by the Bank of the Manhattan Company in 1929, with Warburg becoming chairman of the combined organization.
He became a director of the Council on Foreign Relations at its founding in 1921, remaining on the board until his death. From 1921 to 1926 Warburg was a member of the advisory council of Federal Reserve Board, serving as president of the advisory council in 1924-26. He was also a trustee of the Institute of Economics, founded in 1922; when it was merged into the Brookings Institution in 1927, he became a trustee of the latter, serving until his death.
So you see the connections from the past to the present through Aldrich, Rockefeller, Warburg, The Council On Foreign Relations and the Brookings Institute?
But back to the thuggery story:
“The President invited the director to the White House to discuss health care reform and reducing health care costs,” said White House spokesman Reid Cherlin.
Gibbs described the meeting as a way to discuss ways to reduce health care costs, with no discussion of the CBO methodologies that have annoyed Democrats in their drive to pass health care reform legislation.
Former CBO director Douglas Holtz-Eakin, a Republican appointee who advised the 2008 presidential campaign of Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., said that he never had a private meeting at the White House during his time helming CBO, from 2003 to 2005.
“The only appearance could be that they’re leaning on him,” Holtz-Eakin said. “CBO was created for Congress, for independent analysis. The White House did him (Elmendorf) a terrible disservice.”
This is what the CBO has said about Bambi’s DeathCare:
Congress’ budget watchdog warned Thursday that Democrats’ health care bills would not lower skyrocketing costs and would drive up government spending, undermining one of President Obama’s chief arguments for the overhaul.
Congressional Budget Office (CBO) Director Douglas Elmendorf said the plans already released by the House and Senate would keep costs rising at an unsustainable pace, fueling criticism from Republicans and some conservative Democrats that the overhaul will bankrupt the country.
I keep stating that the takeover of this country started some 100 years ago and finally people are catching up. The Pilgrims are behind the CFR, Brookings, AIG, and numerous other think tanks. Stop worrying about George Soros.
For all my regular readers, move along now, this video will make you puke. For the rest of you, Harry and Louise are living in “my little pony world” when it comes to health care reform and the belief that this government would EVER be able to make healthcare universal and reduce the cost. There are enough examples throughout the world to prove this point, not to mention the CBO saying Bambi’s plan would BANKRUPT our nation.
Why don’t we try to make health care consumer driven where Americans have medical insurance policies that are theirs and not tied to the government or their employer. Start there and see where it takes us. I know the insurance companies that continue to buy skyscrapers and similar investments are not going to be happy about their monopoly being broken up.
