According to Politico.com, former president Bill Clinton brokered a deal requesting that Rep. Meeks drop out of the Florida Senate race in order to allow progressive Charlie Crist (R, I, P) an open pathway to winning that senate seat against Marco Rubio. What won’t the progressives do to get one of their own inside the beltway? Since when does a former president who happens to be a democrat try to get another democrat to quit a race in order for a republican turned independent to win a seat? Open your eyes America; now you will understand why a DeMint/Paul leadership team is so important. If we are going to have republican control in the House and Senate, can we at least have somebody that upholds the Constitution?
Bill Clinton sought to persuade Rep. Kendrick Meek to drop out of the race for Senate during a trip to Florida last week — and nearly succeeded.
Meek agreed — twice — to drop out and endorse Gov. Charlie Crist’s independent bid in a last-ditch effort to stop Marco Rubio, the Republican nominee who stands on the cusp of national stardom.
What makes this all very interesting is a comment I just heard from Shep Smith speaking with Carl Cameron on FoxNews about Obama taking a page out of Bill Clinton’s playbook after Newt Gingrich and the republicans regained control of the house in 1994. The close working relationship that Clinton and Gingrich built under the banner of bipartisanship belays the actual common purpose of pushing global governance that these two progressives both envisioned.
The democrats have gone on the attack against Allen West; remember Allen’s SS# ending up on a mailer last week? Here is your daily Allen West hit as he delivers a message for Obama who will be attending campaigns for Florida dems at the beginning of October.
Remember the old adage, “When you get to my house, you’ll be a long way from your house.”
(Editor’s Note: This is my ‘we are so screwed’ post for 6.2.2010 unless Barry pulls a FUBAR with the Israeli situation. Does anybody have current information on what I’mADinnerJacket over in Iran is doing right now? Is Israel about to get hit on many fronts?)
The winds are moving in just the right direction to bring the oil leak ashore on Florida beaches. The spill is currently 9.5 miles from Pensacola Beach, and expected to come ashore soon.
PENSACOLA BEACH, Fla. — A Florida beach might get hit with oil from the Deepwater Horizon accident for the first time Wednesday as sheen likely caused by the accident was reported less than 10 miles off Pensacola Beach.
A charter boat captain reported the oil Tuesday afternoon and state and local environmental officials confirmed that it was about 9.5 miles offshore. Winds are forecast to blow from the south and west, pushing the outer edges of massive slick from the spill closer to western Panhandle beaches.
Emergency crews began Tuesday scouring the beaches for oil and shoring up miles of boom. Escambia County will use it to block oil from reaching inland waterways, but plans to leave beaches unprotected because they are too difficult to protect and easier to clean up.
The spill’s arrival coincides with the beginning of the Panhandle’s summer tourism season, which normally brings millions of dollars to the region.
“It’s inevitable that we will see it on the beaches,” said Keith Wilkins, Escambia’s deputy chief of neighborhood and community services.
The oil has been creeping toward Florida since the Deepwater Horizon rig exploded on April 20, killing 11 workers and eventually collapsing into the Gulf of Mexico. An estimated 20 million to 40 million gallons of oil has spewed into the Gulf, eclipsing the 11 million that leaked from the Exxon Valdez disaster. The rig was being operated for petroleum giant BP, which has tried unsuccessfully for six week to stanch the oil.
The Florida report followed an orange and oily mess washing up on Alabama’s beaches earlier Tuesday. Crews cleaned up the oil that they described as having the consistency of a “tarry mousse,” but health officials closed the beaches to swimming.
Pensacola Beach officials said their request for about $150,000 from BP to buy sifting machines and a tractor to help remove oil from the beach’s famous white sands has lingered unanswered for more than three weeks. BP has promised it will pay any expenses, but Panhandle officials say the bureaucracy has been slow. Some think the Federal Emergency Management Agency should be running the cleanup operation, not BP. (FEMA? These guys couldn’t find New Orleans after Katrina.)
Meanwhile, BP has cut the well pipe in order to install a cap. The oil output has increased with no guarantee that this maneuver is going to work any better than the previous. Everybody start praying.
Lt. Col. Allen West spoke to the South Florida 912 group on 5.27.2010 reiterating ‘principles over politics’, and empowering the American people instead of enslaving them.
Ed Fulop introduced Lt. Col. Allen West – our keynote speaker and candidate for Congressional District 22. While many in the audience had heard Allen before, all of us needed to hear him reiterate his cautionary message on our need to be Lions and act! He tailored his talk to this week’s events and encouraged us to participate in the 5 months remaining before the election. He made us proud to be Americans and with our actions, the future can be bright!
Lt. Col. Allen West:
“No matter what people try to say in Washington DC, we are not a nation of cowards. We are not people who are afraid.”
If you want to contribute to the death of the Climate of Fear, get off your couches, attend a tea party, and start speaking out. If you wish to donate to Allen West’s campaign, go here.
Here are three of the five new “anti-progressive” billboards in the state of Florida. Billboards ‘four’ and ‘five’ are planned for release next week and “We The People” are behind the purchase of the patriotic advertising.
While thousands showed up to support the president, just a couple of blocks away hundreds came together to protest his arrival. They lined up down Kennedy Boulevard hoping their voices would be heard.
The protest was part of the Tea Party movement. They were demanding less government and a different kind of healthcare reform, and hoping to derail the state’s high-speed train. Protesters believe spending billions on rail has no place in a state facing budget cuts.
“Not the high speed, we don’t need it. I mean, how many people are actually going to ride it? I mean, you can check a lot of trains that the government is running and there is no one on there,” said Marie Brown.
It was an opinion shared by many there — more protestors arrived as the day went on.
Obama supporter Thomas Nimmo decided to argue with dozens of the protesters. Little did he know, he was fighting a losing battle.
“I just think that these people don’t really understand. They listen to one source of media and they get their talking points from that and they will be against anything that they are told to be against and I think that’s really unfortunate,” said Nimmo, 22.
I am assuming Thomas is a product of our fine education system where we are behind almost everybody else in MATH and science.
