I can honestly say that my greek orthodox and catholic grandparents that entered this country legally would be kicking Nancy’s A** all over the neighborhood for attempting to use christians’ belief systems against them when it comes to illegal aliens and amnesty. What about lying, cheating, and stealing? How about that ‘rule of law’ that says crossing the border illegally is a criminal act? I am so over people that want their cake and the opportunity to eat it too.
(CNSNews.com) – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said she has told Catholic cardinals, archbishops and bishops that she wants them to speak from the pulpit for immigration reform and tell Catholics who oppose it that reform “is a manifestation of our living the gospels.”
In her comments at the Catholic Community Conference on Capitol Hill on May 6, Pelosi specifically referenced illegal immigrants in America, saying as a practical matter, “we can’t say to people, 12 million of you, ‘go back to wherever you came from or go to jail.’”
“I would hope that there’s one thing that we can do working together as we go forward that speaks to what the Bible tells us about the dignity and worth of every person — and that is on the subject of immigration,” Pelosi said in her remarks. “Because I think the Church is going to have to play a very major role in how we, in how people are treated.”
“The cardinals, the archbishops, the bishops that come to me and say, ‘We want you to pass immigration reform,’” disclosed Pelosi. “And I say, ‘But I want you to speak about it from the pulpit.’
“I want you to instruct your, whatever the communication is — the people, some of them, oppose immigration reform are sitting in those pews and you have to tell them that this is a ‘manifestation of our living the gospels,’” said Pelosi. “Our patron saint of San Francisco, St. Francis of Assisi, he said, ‘preach the gospel –sometimes use words.’ We need the words to be said because it isn’t being picked up automatically.”
Pelosi, a Catholic and a Trinity College alumnus, said the estimated 12 million people currently living in America illegally cannot be told by society to go back to where they came from or “go to jail.”
“We have to respect that dignity and worth (of the individual), and recognize that the Church has an important role to play in that,” she said. “We don’t — as a practical matter, we can’t say to people, 12 million of you, ‘go back to wherever you came from or go to jail.’”
“We can’t do that,” she said. “But the newcomers to America are really, again, important to the constant re-invigoration of America, which is part of who we are and have always been unless we’re all Native American — God Bless them. But most of the people here came from someplace else.”
In rebuttal to Ms. Pelosi’s comments on immigration reform, A. It’s a lie – the revitalization that she is talking about are votes. B. She is so far removed from what the majority of real Americans think, we’re talking baseball, compared to Afghani polo – yes the kind with the dead cow. C. As for Native Americans, we don’t want or need your blessing – go Piss Up A Rope!

and while she is seeking to use the pulpit to send her message, in georgia at a senior center, they are being told they can not pray before meals due to federal regulation…….

Okay so where are the cries of separation of church and state, it is okay as long as it fits her agenda, she really is the most dangerous person in DC. She has no business telling any church what to tell the congregation especially when she is Catholic in name only.
the separation of church and state is used whenever it fits the message; however, no where in the constitution is this mandated. it came from a speech by thomas jefferson (i think).
if this was so important to the founders and subsequent gov’t officials, why are there religious inscriptions on most of the gov’t buildings in washington? i read an article that listed all of the references to God and religion. in that article it stated there is an inscription on the top of the washington monument, in a place that is seen by no one except the birds and possibly pilots………
The separation of church and state applies to a nation-wide ‘state’ religion. Each state may have its own religion if it chooses – just not on the federal level like the Church of England. Our founders were religious men and they believe we should be guided in all things by morals. Those same morals that have been taught out of our children by public schools.

This right here. They were seeking to avoid the bloody history of Europe in regards to the violent persecutions of Catholics by Protestants, and vice versa. Also, as one reads the Constitution, not once do you see the phrase “separation of Church and State.” This phrase was co-opted from President Jefferson to the Danbury Baptists (the Danbury Letter).
