What’s the point of passing laws that state crossing the border is a criminal act if you aren’t going to enforce them, and then are going to just allow the lawbreakers to make themselves at home feasting on the carcass of what used to be America? – LM
I hope every single state bordering Mexico passes a law that requires resident aliens to carry their green card to properly identify themselves. As a US citizen, you are not required to carry id, but if you get stopped by the men in paramilitary black, you will be their ‘guest’ until they are satisfied that there isn’t some way to squeeze some revenue from your “criminal ***”. Is there a difference? Resident aliens are guests in our country, and should behave accordingly.
Once again, where is the logic in a segment of the population hammering Arizona for passing a law when the impetus for such a law was Mexican criminals, and the failure of the feds to do their mandated duty. Regular Americans are taking a beating for abiding by the rule of law, while the criminals get portrayed as the victims.
This whole situation eerily reminds me of the feds ignoring New Orleans during Katrina. The situation in the border states has become critical, but because we don’t see bodies floating in water on CNN, everybody thinks that the kidnappings, murders, slave trafficking, and drug trade aren’t that big a deal. What is it going to take to close the border; losing an entire American town to a mexican drug cartel? Granting illegal alien criminals, (not undocumented immigrants), amnesty is only going to make this dire situation worse.
Texas Rep Wants to Import AZ Immigration Law
A Republican Texas lawmaker plans to introduce a tough immigration measure similar to the new law in Arizona, a move state Democrats say would be a mistake.
Rep. Debbie Riddle of Tomball said she will push for the law in the January legislative session, according to Wednesday’s editions of the San Antonio Express-News and Houston Chronicle.
“The first priority for any elected official is to make sure that the safety and security of Texans is well-established,” said Riddle, who introduced a similar measure in 2009 that didn’t get out of committee. “If our federal government did their job, then Arizona wouldn’t have to take this action, and neither would Texas.”
The Arizona law would require local and state law enforcement to question people about their immigration status — and make it a crime for immigrants to lack registration documents.
The measure is already making an impact in North Texas. Organizers for a rally against the immigration law said Tuesday they hope for 100,000 protesters to show up for a Saturday march in Dallas. Leaders of various groups are planning to attend.
“What I say to the African-American community: If they come in the morning for brown-skinned people, and we remain silent, they may come in the evening for us,” Peter Johnson, of the Peter Johnson Institute of Non-Violence, said.
“This wholesale idea of just questioning everyone who looks differently or who has an accent or whose eyes look differently than ours is not the way to address this issue,” said Cheryl Pollman, president of the National Council of Jewish Women.
The Dallas Tea Party said it will plan a counterprotest for another time.
Phillip Dennis, a member of the group’s steering committee, said states have to step up because the federal government has failed to enforce immigration laws. He said he and his wife, who is a legal immigrant from Colombia, are familiar with the process of emigrating to the United States.
“We paid by the rules, we jumped through the hoops, and we paid the money — thousands and thousands of dollars,” he said. (emphasis mine)
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano told a U.S. Senate hearing Tuesday that a Justice Department review is under way to determine the constitutionality of the Arizona law.
State Sen. Leticia Van de Putte, a San Antonio Democrat and former president of the National Hispanic Caucus of State Legislators, called the law “extremely damaging and hateful.”
Van de Putte predicted failure for any similar measures in Texas and said the GOP would suffer politically for such a move.
Asked about the Arizona law, GOP Gov. Rick Perry and his Democratic challenger, Bill White, emphasized through spokespeople that immigration is a federal responsibility.
Jim Harrington, of the Texas Civil Rights Project, predicted any similar effort in Texas would fail because Texas has “a different relationship with the Hispanic community.”
“You can take the political temperature by just looking at Rick Perry being quiet,” Harrington said.

I heard last night, while we’ll have to prove up and show our papers we’ve paid into Obamacare…….the illegal’s shout racist/Nazi/fascist, etc….if challenged to prove up ‘legal citizenship’, yeah right…. real victims. Hey, how about putting the 15,000 IRS agents down on the border instead. Sound reasonable?
The democrats think we should all have identifying chips in our foreheads so they can know and control our every move and they are screaming about illegals having to show green cards or whatever? Citizens in Arizona should be glad to prove that they are American citizens and from what I hear the majority of them, including Hispanic-Americans do support the bill. Blame the government for allowing this to get to the point that it has. And I would be interested in knowing how Texas’s relationship to Mexico is different from Arizona’s causing it to be unnecessary for a similar bill to be passed.
barry dont like the new az law,,,,he’s afraid if he visits az he might have to show HIS papers!!!!!whereupon they might just ship his ass back to kenya!
Go Gov. Riddle. I fully support the states taking action when the Federal govenment ignores any of their responsibilities. This one, ILLEGAL immigration, is of paramount importance to the safety of Texas, the Southwest and America at large.
Don’t be bullied by the propaganda that will ensue. I hope you follow your instincts and commons sense.

The federal gov’t is a failure, a tax eating monster that does not protect the citizen, all they do is figure how they can screw the AMERICAN citizen and the majority of the rhinos and progressive democrats want to push their anti-CONSTITUTIONAL socialist crap on the citizen just as they forced that socialistic pro-communist health care.
janet napalitano sets on the right wing extremist anti american letter and says those who are believers in the BIBLE, or the 2nd admendment, are terrorists. but she wants to question the ARIZONA LAW whether it is CONSTITUTIONAL or not. she doenn’t question the right wing prejudice letter she has stored away in pro-nazi archives.
red lemur…..sheriff joe is waiting for bo to show his face….he will look lovely in pink!
i hope every state gets on board with this. right now every leftist group is focused on how to “punish” arizona….it will be nice to have company! i love how they want to boycott arizona ice tea….problem is the company is actually based in new york!
As an Arizona resident I’ve seen first hand on almost EVERY nightly news broadcast the effects of these Illegals running from the law by the VANS full. The car accidents caused by stolen vehicles being driven by Illegals who get out of the car, ditch the accident scene, and run behind store fronts and neighborhoods, leaving the chaos of the injured to a legal passerby.
They don’t care…but we should care about them and their plight? Garbage! Even the Mayor is on their side, last year he told the police officers not to arrest illegals.
It’s time we Take OUR country back from these weak kneed politicians and their whining parasites of our tax dollars.
Stand Up and fight this lie being perpetuated on our Constitution.
Did you know that the bill in Arizona has it’s own TORT reform…. you lose in court, you pay. That’s why these measly mouthed varmints clamor for the Media airwaves, to twist, distort, and manipulate the truth. Soviet style propaganda.
If this Arizona battle is not won any amount of laws against Illegals won’t matter at all. This will be the mob rule that will eliminate our borders, and make us permanent slaves to this new “living” Constitution that the autocratic progressives want to dictate their rule over us, their employer.
Close the borders and shoot any illegals aliens who are not heading south. What part of illegal do the communist not understand. Twice in our history our Presidents had the guts to round up all of these scumbags and send them home. The third time will be the charm if we close and protect are borders from this swarm of unwanted criminals who are hamstringing our judicial, educational, and heathcare systems. Obama wants to give them amnesty to secure their votes, he could care less that they and many others are so detrimental to this country. He knows that the elites don’t have to put up with these losers like the rest of us on an everyday basis. Send them home and keep them there!
Thank you, Rep. Debbie Riddle for having the back bone to do whats right. My hope is that Rick Perry will soon have a change of mind. Again thank you
