Think Progress is having a moment this morning with this particular article. I also think that TP may not understand how many middle of the road Americans were incensed with George Bush and all the shenanigans surrounding 9.11 and the Patriot Act. It’s been decades since we had a real ‘American’ president.
Beck calls Bush a ‘progressive,’ says Obama is doing ‘exactly’ the same thing.
The tea party movement is staunchly opposed to big government and deficits, but right-wing activists and their supporters have been unable to explain awaythe fact that former President Bush, not their nemesis President Obama, is responsible for the majority of the current deficit, not to mention the greatly expanded size of the federal government. Fox News host Glenn Beck offered a convenient explanation on his radio show today — Bush is a “progressive,” just like Obama:
BECK: What has [Obama] done that is different? I think he’s done exactly what George Bush was doing, except to the times of a thousand. I mean we’re talking about a progressive. And George Bush was a progressive. It’s the difference between a steam train and the space shuttle.
Beck’s posit is a ‘convenient explanation’?
What about this event from 1.30.2010:
Obama Meeting With Bushes
In keeping with the themes of a ‘deficit of trust’, and a new spirit of bi-partisanship; can someone explain this to me, because you know I have questions.
Mysterious Bush-Bush-Obama meeting at the Oval Office this morning
President Barack Obama hosted a pair of Bushes this morning in the Oval Office: former President George H.W. Bush and his son, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.
The White House described it as a social call, but feel free to speculate. Jeb Bush’s presence was unexpected — the White House hadn’t said anything about him being invited. It’s all very… bipartisan.
The Bushes were at the White House for just over a half-hour, emerging in a driving snow that over the next few hours will blanket the capital with several inches of fluff.
“Good meeting, good meeting,” the elder Bush, 85 and walking with a cane, said in response to a question called out by a reporter.
This may seem like a silly post, but out-of-the-ordinary events, especially Obama meeting with “progressive” GOP operatives, will always make one eyebrow go up. Don’t think Bush 41 is a progressive? What about a ‘New World Order’?
Beck’s not wrong on this. If you expand government, you are (in the case of Bush) at least following the progressive agenda, or (in Zero’s case), you don’t know anything but the progressive agenda.
BTW…”Think Progress,” libtards that they are, should have put more thought into their name. Anyone who CHOOSES to have the acronym “TP” must have spent too much time watching Cornholio as a kid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2yW_sIKBfIk
This whole Wall Street extravaganza and the anger over Arizona’s right to obey the law is merely a coverup for Cap and Trade. They want to keep us focused away from Congress and its voting for the big money-making deal of cap and trade. Progressives? surely – but thieves is more like it.
George Bush the daddy is one of the ring leaders of the New World Order and Obummer wants to be the king of it, maybe daddy Bush wants Jeb or “W” to be it instead. Yes, I think that was what the meeting was about. Why else would that old man go out in the middle of a snowstorm with a cane to walk on? Bet he didn’t have to go out the back door and walk past the trash bags in snow and ice like the Dalli Lama!
