Obama Writing The Healthcare Bill?

I know, it’s Rachel Maddow, but there are some interesting facts in this interview that you may find breathtaking. Take for instance, certain health insurance companies jacking their rates upwards of 56% a few weeks before the healthcare summit at Blair House. Pretty damn convenient if you want to herd the sheep toward a public option, yes? I’m not saying phone calls were made, but it sure does seem timely.

Obama to spell out new healthcare plan

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Barack Obama is expected to publish his healthcare plan as early as Sunday or Monday, combining features of the two Democratic bills passed by the Senate and House of Representatives, congressional aides and healthcare advocates said on Friday.

The administration’s bill will aim to jump-start the stalled healthcare overhaul and comes just days ahead of a planned televised White House summit with congressional Republicans, who are calling on Democrats to scrap the bills and start over with a far less sweeping proposal.

Democrats are struggling to push healthcare legislation over the finish line in the face of sagging public support and solid Republican opposition bolstered by recent election victories in Massachusetts, Virginia and New Jersey.

The legislation the White House will post on its website is expected to reflect common ground negotiated over the past several weeks by House and Senate Democratic leaders.

Those agreements are likely to be combined as a privileged budget reconciliation bill, which only needs a simple 51-vote majority to pass the 100-member Senate instead of the 60-vote supermajority that has become routine in the Senate and gives Republicans power to block the healthcare bill.

“I believe that’s the path we are going to take,” a senior congressional Democratic aide said.

Like we all said earlier, here comes reconciliation.  This goes beyond not receiving the message; this is ignoring the American public.  Can we impeach this asshat YET?

But it is not clear, even to congressional Democrats, what the White House will include in its legislation and whether Obama will try to add proposals aimed at attracting at least some Republican support.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi have not signed off on any final agreement, several Democratic aides have said.

“We are still waiting for the president to present to Leader Reid and Speaker Pelosi his plan,” a Democratic leadership aide told Reuters.

Valerie Jarrett, one of Obama’s closest advisers, said the president would post his draft healthcare bill on the Internet in “the next couple of days.”

“The president is going to craft what he thinks is a good bill. It’s not going to be a perfect bill but it’s going to be a good bill,” she said at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Obama is actually going to try his hand at writing a bill when there doesn’t appear to be any evidence that he has actually written anything?  This should be both frightening and pathetic.

  1. I wonder how the TOTUS feels about this, should it be advised of it’s rights, maybe contact it’s union rep.

The rPresident is only skillful at reading and only from the TOTUS what electronic device is going to help him write anything of substance?

  2. I had to click Rachael off. I can only listen to so much of her mouth. If they pass this bill there will be riots in the streets but they know that and that is what they want. I just started on Medicare and I would be effected by this right away. What a bummer.

    • Nancy – I get that special helping of love reserved just for the people here in Hawaii. I will be allowed to continue to not have health insurance for myself and my son, AND I WILL STILL GET TO PAY FOR EVERYBODY’S ELSES. So lovely!! I cannot wait!!!

  3. even a broken clock is right two times a day! rachael was waaaaay overdue!

arizona has a proposed amendment to our state constitution to protect us from any federal health care mandates. there are provisions in the proposal to nullify any fines/fees the feds want to impose. we vote on this proposal in november.

  4. He’s also seriously asking for people to storm the mall loaded for bear. I think the man is clinically insane … or at least clinically deranged. I believe the House should start deliberations immediately on whether or not he is fit to lead this nation. I just don’t know if the world, let alone we, can take another three years of this disgrace.

  5. WHEELS are coming off the bus.

Can we elect a congress like Andrew Breitbart willing to impeach the Fraud in Chief.

    • None of the above. Heaven help us if he should manage to latch on to a Supreme Court position. That would mean we would have to put up with this coniving, crooked, alien usurper for the rest of his life. He would like this arena to spout his egotistical viewpoints and screw the lives of the people but what would it do to us?

  6. On Fox News today it ws stated that some doctors are now demanding a credit card number before granting an appointment. There was an interview with a doctor stating that this was necessary because some people didn”t pay their bills and the doctors couldn’t afford to carry the loss.
They also state that they want to be sure they can have access to a means of payment of any amount that the patient’s insurance doesn’t cover.

I realize that doctors expected to be paid, but what about the people who don’t believe in credit cards. I do not have a credit card. I don’t desire to have a credit card and deeply resent that doctors who are supposed to have the health of their patients as their goal would demand this before granting an appointment.

This, coupled with the insurance companies increase in premiums seems to me to give Obama a lot of incentive to push harder for his plan. Accidently on purpose? Convenient timing at the least. As Obama would say, there is more than one way to skin a cat.
