Senate votes to pass the bill out of cloture down party lines, 60-40.  The next procedural vote will be on Tuesday at 7 a.m. eastern with the final passage vote on Thursday at 7 p.m. eastern.

******************

I will be posting Harry Reid and Mitch McConnell’s speeches when they become available because the stark contrast between the two is unbelievable, and Reid’s melodramatic text is pathetic.

*********************

12:40 a.m. Mitch McConnell: “if the people who wrote this bill were proud of it, they wouldn’t be forcing the vote for it in the dead of night”.  McConnell is listing some of the deals made for certain senators votes.

“One can stop it, or every single one will own it.  My colleagues, it’s not too late.”

******************

12:35 a.m.: Chris Dodd: Healthcare is a fundamental right and not a privilege.  “This legislation is about freedom from fears…”  (Unbelievable when the dems have totally terrorized and held the majority of Americans hostage with this bill.)

Dodd is saddened by the partisan vote, but they are going ahead anyways.  Dodd is also using Ted to get his fellow senators to vote for this bill.  “History will judge us well…”

********************

12:32 a.m.: Tom Harkin is dragging out Ted Kennedy and his ‘moral imperative’ to pass an un-Constitutional bill that mandates every American to purchase coverage from insurance companies but not giving those same Americans enough possible options to guarantee choices or cost cutting for that coverage.

******************

12:06 a.m. 12.21.09 est (7:06 p.m Hawaii time)….There is a bright side to being 5 hours behind Eastern standard time; most folks are asleep while the Senate is voting for cloture on the healthcare bill in the dark of the middle of the night.  Here in Hawaii it’s 8 p.m. and the Monster IS WIDE AWAKE. (BWWWAAHHHHH!!!)  We will be updating as the procedural vote happens.

The Senate is still planning on voting at 1 a.m. Monday morning – while America sleeps.

**********************

The Senate will be debating the health care bill from 1 p.m. est to 11:30 p.m. est before going forward with a cloture vote to end debate scheduled for 1 a.m. Monday morning (in what was once thought an alternate universe).

You can watch live streaming coverage on C-Span at the link below.

First Vote Scheduled for Bill

The final version of the Senate health care bill faces its first challenge in a late-night procedural vote. Sen. Nelson (D-NE) said he’s prepared to vote for the bill, likely giving the 60th vote needed to move forward. The Senate will hold general debate all day and then recess until 12:01am ET in preparation for the 1am ET vote.

  1. History will lay their names in stone, as the most corrupt congress in America’s history. They will not be remembered as honorable people of this nation.
