Iowa Woman’s Answer To The ObamaMedia

….because after the last few days, everybody needs to smile.  I know Nancy is enjoying this as much as us.

You go Deloris!

Carroll woman’s answer to highly visible Obama: Selling her televisions

A 78-year-old Carroll woman says she’s so tired of seeing President Barack Obama on the airwaves that she’s selling her television sets – two of them.

Deloris Nissen, a retired nurses’ aide and former Kmart employee who was raised on a farm near Audubon, placed a classified advertisement with The Daily Times Herald for Friday’s paper.

In the $5.50 ad, Nissen tells readers she has two television sets for sale.

The reason: “Obama on every channel and station.”

In an interview Nissen said she is serious about selling two TVs – and genuine about her disgust with what she believes to be an overexposed president.

“I just got tired of watching him on every channel,” Nissen said. “I thought, my gosh, does he ever stay at the White House?”

Nissen, who voted for U.S. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., in the 2008 presidential election, said she could live with seeing Obama come on television to make serious announcements. But he seems to be on all the time, Nissen said.

When the president does appear on a channel she happens to be watching, Nissen said, she quickly turns.

“I have the remote real handy,” Nissen said. “I have the batteries. I’m ready for him.”

Nissen’s annoyance with the president as a frequent presence on her television doesn’t mean she’ll abandon the medium altogether.

She’s keeping a bigger flat-screen television and selling an older 20-inch Sony and possibly a 13-inch set.

“It’s too heavy,” Nissen said of the 20-inch TV. “I can’t handle it anymore.”

That said, she doesn’t plan on selling it for less than $100 – even if Obama was just on Tuesday pitching his health-care-reform plans.

Obama’s own advisers and political observers across the ideological spectrum have for months debated whether the now popular president is overexposed.

For her part, Nissen said she expects to take some flack for the advertisement in her local paper. After all, Obama did win Iowa and Carroll County in the 2008 election.

But she’s not worried about any criticism.
“I’m an old lady, and I don’t care,” Nissen said.

Does this dear lady have a computer and lurk on our sites?

(As an aside, as soon as I can actually write my tribute to our dear friend, I will.  Problem is, everytime I start to write, I am blinded by the tears.  It may take a few days.)

  1. Deloris is just expressing what so many feel, I am sure among those are some who voted for him. He is becoming the annoying informercial guy who you can not wait to switch off. The trouble is he is everywhere and it is starting to weigh on all who have to watch.

It would be interesting to know if there is has been an increase in the internet use, just to get away from all the fluff that now passes for news.

Diamond when the time is right the tears will dry and the words will flow.

  2. I feel the same as Deloris. I very seldom turn the tv on anymore because it seems that it is nothing more than a personal propaganda machine for Obams. His ugly face and insincere smile are too much for me to take on a minute to minute basis. IMO he is a stupid arrogant jerk who slid into the WH on the wings of a black vulture named Acorn( as opposed to a white dove named peace and hope)and the more that is proven against them the more support they receive from those who should be prosecuting them.

We need to beg Providence every night on bended knee to wake the American people up to the threat that is destroying us from within.

  3. ‘ “I’m an old lady, and I don’t care,” Nissen said.’

She reminds me of my grandmother when she was in her eighties and was fighting with the city on something she supposedly didn’t do. She said, “I’m 85 years old… what the hell are they going to do to me?”

    God bless, Deloris!

  4. I don’t watch TV anymore, especially since they went to digital. I refuse to pay for cable (to pay for my own attempted indoctrination from them) and digital DOES NOT WORK (thank God). The last I watched TV was during the election process, and I could not stand to see BO back then. I spend all of my free time on the computer, which means there is probably a spot reserved for me at the reeducation camps. So be it, try to come get me!

  5. Funny how the late night comics whine that they have no funny material when it comes to Obama, but a septugenarian from rural Iowa can hit it out of the ballpark in a classified ad.

  6. I have to agree with Deloris, I sick and tired of seeing his lying, Dumbo eared mug on TV. I’m also tired of hearing hia same old worn out campaign crap that he adapts to every crisis that he creates and orchestrates. Obozo is a very boring speaker, and can never answer a single question honestly. He obviously enjoys hearing himself talk, and loves his resemblance to Curious George. He really should start his own network, he could call it POS TV.

  7. I, too have not watched TeeVee for a very long time. I just can’t stomach it. I hail Deloris for her bravery. You never know what kind of reaction you are going to get when you say somethng against Obama.
DT, my thoughts are with you. I know how sad you are. I am very saddened, also.

  8. I share the same sentiment as everyone here. Wish I can do what Deloris Nissen is doing. Unlucky me has an ‘other-half’ that is brought up on the ‘foundation’ propaganda and watches CNN and other propaganda stations often. (He listens to NPR too). I have to run out of the room when obozo’s ugly face and nauseating voice assult me. I cannot stop the $71 cable subscription that we pay to torture me!
My 88 year old mother-in-law, who is not quite sensible as Deloris Nissen, thinks obozo can’t do no wrong. She actually puts up on the wall obozo’s unbearable face that the local dem party sent her with “this house supports president obama” written above his yucky face! My only remedy when I visit her is cover it up with a rag.
I am the lone person in my family and among almost all my friends, that sees through the traitor! HELP!

  9. Hat tip to Deloris. But it seems like the overexposure is everywhere: one day I was at my bank and CNN was blaring full blast at a obama op; yesterday a department store waiting room, I was waiting one day to get my car serviced, same thing; some restaurant and bars have huge posters and paintings on the side of buildings; campaign ads are still in the yard at homes, bumberstickers, pop-up ads; every time I log on to my yahoo mail, there’s a picture and 90% of the articles are about him; it’s revolting. At least with TV, we have a remote if we get to it quick enough. I even get fed up with some conservative web site posting pictures of him.
I had to spam the Whitehouse email they were sending me. I got one from Axelrod telling me to watch o’s speech in Egypt, Michelle asking me to volunteer in their new program (like pick up trash, clean up a part…etc.)

Psyc.. experts have diagnosed him with NPD and if you look at the symptoms, you really have to agree. He’s a vindictive demogogue wanna be dictator who won’t tolerate and along with Azelrod/Soros, Inc.will try to destroy anyone who disagrees with him and/or gets in his way.
