(Disclaimer: The following post is only The Monster’s opinion, and as such, should be approached as thought provoking; not gospel.)
I have been a supporter of Sarah Palin since February, 2008 when in the course of my travels I stumbled upon her and started researching her record. A few days before McCain announced her as his VP back at the end of August, I was hoping against hope that he would pick her, as I knew he had a snowball’s chance in hell of beating the Democrat Machine, ACORN, and America’s anger with the Bush administration and their fascist Patriot Act, without a person of Sarah’s stature standing beside him. We all have seen the response from Americans across the country to Sarah; the crowds she draws and the money that was raised after she was chosen. And let’s not overlook the unbelievable personal and professional attacks against her and her family that continue to occur even though she has announced her resignation. The Left is totally predictable in their attacks against people and organizations THEY FEAR. Hey, they have been here calling me all sorts of names, but it requires guys in cars with binoculars outside my home to even get my attention.
For example, (and I am NOT linking to this crap; Google it)
Michael Shaw of Huffington Post;Reading The Pictures: Palin Proud To Be Trash
(July 5, 2009)
This photo was circulated by Getty after Palin was tabbed for Veep by McCain and appeared, at least, in a cheeseball LAT election slideshow on Palin’s fashion sense.
If you haven’t seen it before, however, it’s because the image, like Palin herself, is radioactive.Although taken back in ’04 (see caption below), the statement is significant today for revealing an attitude (along with the adorable love ‘ya/just shot ‘ya) that, upon her resignation from elected office, now morphs into a full-blown strategy. Palin has created a scenario, at least in her mind, in which she’s defeated the press and can freely Facebook and speak obliquely with and to her equally angry and alienated true constituency.
Simply, she’s positioned herself to reconnect, with the same invective, to the haters and fanatics she was inciting during the campaign.
But back to the point at hand; Sarah’s gutsy chess move. I was ecstatic when I heard that Sarah was not going to run for re-election, and my grin got bigger as I heard that she was resigning in an incredibly unconventional move that appears to cut all of her attackers off at the knees.
Did Ed Rollins actually listen to Sarah’s speech? “There isn’t going to be any happiness anywhere…” Has Ed been paying attention to what is really going on in the country or is his head buried so far in the beltway “my little pony world” that he does not realize (like almost all of the liberal left moonbats) that this was a shot across Bambi’s bow? Ed? Sarah is not trying to bury this news on a friday afternoon of a long weekend; IMHO, she just declared the start of her independence from the attacks by both the left and right. You have finally pissed her off, (and MILLIONS of Americans to boot), to such a point that she is bringing the fight to you.
In the interests of helping the less gray celled endowed in this great country, The Monster is going to give, (in my humble opinion), the “What Sarah Really Said” translation. I am including the entire transcript of Sarah’s speech with the relevant portions translated.
Palin Announces No Second Term
No Lame Duck Session Either
Hi Alaska, I appreciate speaking directly to you, the people I serve, as your Governor.
People who know me know that besides faith and family, nothing’s more important to me than our beloved Alaska. Serving her people is the greatest honor I could imagine.
I want Alaskans to grasp what can be in store for our state. We were purchased as a territory because a member of President Abe Lincoln’s cabinet, William Seward, providentially saw in this great land, vast riches, beauty, strategic placement on the globe, and opportunity. He boldly looked “North to the Future”. But he endured such ridicule and mocking for his vision for Alaska, remember the adversaries scoffed, calling this “Seward’s Folly”. Seward withstood such disdain as he chose the uncomfortable, unconventional, but right path to secure Alaska, so Alaska could help secure the United States.
What part of uncomfortable, unconventional yet right path for Alaska and America are you not understanding? Critical times require drastic moves. Sarah is not stupid, she is fearless.
People who know me know that besides faith and family, nothing’s more important to me than our beloved Alaska.
Alaska’s mission – to contribute to America. We’re strategic in the world as the air crossroads of the world, as a gatekeeper of the continent. Bold visionaries knew this – Alaska would be part of America’s great destiny.
Our destiny to be reached by responsibly developing our natural resources. This land, blessed with clean air, water, wildlife, minerals, and oil and gas. It’s energy! God gave us energy.
So to serve the state is a humbling responsibility, because I know in my soul that Alaska is of such import, for America’s security, in our very volatile world. And you know me by now, I promised even four years ago to show my independence… no more conventional “politics as usual”.
I am as far from being a beltway panderer as one can get.
And we are doing well! My administration’s accomplishments speak for themselves. We work tirelessly for Alaskans.
My administration actually did something good for Alaska. We are actually working instead of campaigning, having Wednesday Disco Nights, flying in pizza, and going to see Broadway shows on the taxpayers’ dime.
We aggressively and responsibly develop our resources because they were created to be used to better our world… to help people… and we protect the environment and Alaskans (the resource owners) foremost with our policies.
Alaskans own the resources, not the government.
Here’s some of the things we’ve done:
We created a petroleum integrity office to oversee safe development. We held the line for Alaskans on Point Thomson – and finally for the first time in decades – they’re drilling for oil and gas.
We have AGIA, the gasline project – a massive bi-partisan victory (the vote was 58 to 1!) – also succeeding as intended – protecting Alaskans as our clean natural gas will flow to energize us, and America, through a competitive, pro-private sector project. This is the largest private sector energy project, ever. This is energy independence.
And ACES – another bipartisan effort – is working as intended and industry is publicly acknowledging its success. Our new oil and gas “clear and equitable formula” is so Alaskans will no longer be taken advantage of. ACES incentivizes new exploration and development and jobs that were previously not going to happen with a monopolized North Slope oil basin.
Alaskans get a piece of the pie, not just big corporations. (See Wall Street)
We cleaned up previously accepted unethical actions; we ushered in bi-partisan Ethics Reform.
We play by the rules.
We also slowed the rate of government growth, we worked with the Legislature to save billions of dollars for the future, and I made no lobbyist friends with my hundreds of millions of dollars in budget vetoes… but living beyond our means today is irresponsible for tomorrow.
Fiscal Responsiblity? How refreshing.
We took government out of the dairy business and put it back into private-sector hands – where it should be.
Smaller government; more free enterprise. How Constitutional!
We provided unprecedented support for education initiatives, and with the right leadership, finally filled long-vacant public safety positions. We built a sub-Cabinet on Climate Change and took heat from Outside special interests for our biologically-sound wildlife management for abundance.
We broke ground on the new prison.
And we made common sense conservative choices to eliminate personal luxuries like the jet, the chef, the junkets… the entourage.
It’s called tightening your belt, just like hundreds of thousands of Americans during a economic depression.
And the Lt. Governor and I said “no” to our pay raises.
Meanwhile the DC beltway crowd gives themselves more and more cash to play with.
So much success in this first term – and with this success I am proud to take credit… for hiring the right people! Our goal was to achieve a gasline project, more fair oil and gas valuation, and ethics reform in four years. We did it in two. It’s because of the people… good public servants surrounding the Governor’s office, with servants’ hearts and astounding work ethic… they are Alaska’s success!
The mark of good leadership, discernment and delegation.
We are doing well! I wish you’d hear more from the media of your state’s progress and how we tackle Outside interests – daily – special interests that would stymie our state. Even those debt-ridden stimulus dollars that would force the heavy hand of federal government into our communities with an “all-knowing attitude” – I have taken the slings and arrows with that unpopular move to veto because I know being right is better than being popular. Some of those dollars would harm Alaska and harm America – I resisted those dollars because of the obscene national debt we’re forcing our children to pay, because of today’s Big Government spending; it’s immoral and doesn’t even make economic sense!
Another accomplishment – our Law Department protected states’ rights – two huge U.S. Supreme Court reversals came down against that liberal Ninth Circuit, deciding in our state’s favor over the last two weeks. We’re protectors of our Constitution – federalists protect states’ rights as mandated in 10th amendment.
But you don’t hear much of the good stuff in the press anymore, do you?
Some say things changed for me on August 29th last year – the day John McCain tapped me to be his running-mate – I say others changed.
Let me speak to that for a minute.
Political operatives descended on Alaska last August, digging for dirt. The ethics law I championed became their weapon of choice. Over the past nine months I’ve been accused of all sorts of frivolous ethics violations – such as holding a fish in a photograph, wearing a jacket with a logo on it, and answering reporters’ questions.
Every one – all 15 of the ethics complaints have been dismissed. We’ve won! But it hasn’t been cheap – the State has wasted thousands of hours of your time and shelled out some two million of your dollars to respond to “opposition research” – that’s money not going to fund teachers or troopers – or safer roads. And this political absurdity, the “politics of personal destruction” … Todd and I are looking at more than half a million dollars in legal bills in order to set the record straight. And what about the people who offer up these silly accusations? It doesn’t cost them a dime so they’re not going to stop draining public resources – spending other peoples’ money in their game.
This is the crux of why Sarah resigned; wasted money and wasted time in an effort to absolutely obliterate another regular American. Remember Joe the Plumber?
It’s pretty insane – my staff and I spend most of our day dealing with this instead of progressing our state now. I know I promised no more “politics as usual,” but this isn’t what anyone had in mind for Alaska.
If I have learned one thing: life is about choices!
And one chooses how to react to circumstances. You can choose to engage in things that tear down, or build up. I choose to work very hard on a path for fruitfulness and productivity. I choose not to tear down and waste precious time; but to build up this state and our country, and her industrious, generous, patriotic, free people!
“Build up this state and our country…” Would that be the opposite of 21 czars, taking control of the banking industry, the car companies, cap and trade and socialized medicine?
Life is too short to compromise time and resources… it may be tempting and more comfortable to just keep your head down, plod along, and appease those who demand: “Sit down and shut up”, but that’s the worthless, easy path; that’s a quitter’s way out. And a problem in our country today is apathy. It would be apathetic to just hunker down and “go with the flow”.
Nah, only dead fish “go with the flow”.
We are at a critical time with absolutely no time for anything but fighting to take our country back from a liberal left agenda hell bent on socialization and total government control.
No. Productive, fulfilled people determine where to put their efforts, choosing to wisely utilize precious time… to build up.
And there is such a need to build up and fight for our state and our country. I choose to fight for it! And I’ll work hard for others who still believe in free enterprise and smaller government; strong national security for our country and support for our troops; energy independence; and for those who will protect freedom and equality and life… I’ll work for and campaign for those proud to be American, and those who are inspired by our ideals and won’t deride them.
The current agenda in Washington DC (both dems and repubs) is to destroy free enterprise, increase the size of the federal government, nationalize all industries, bankrupt Americans with the printing of insane amounts of federal reserve notes and the cap and TAX bill, tear down the military, make us more indentured to foreign oil, side with dictators instead of freedom fighters, and control American citizens with more bogus laws like “hate speech”, and the DHS right wing terrorist memos.
I will support others who seek to serve, in or out of office, for the right reasons, and I don’t care what party they’re in or no party at all. Inside Alaska – or Outside Alaska.
At this point, if you haven’t changed your party affiliation to indie, now might be a GREAT time to do that. It sends a message.
But I won’t do it from the Governor’s desk.
I’ve never believed that I, nor anyone else, needs a title to do this – to make a difference… to help people. So I choose, for my State and my family, more “freedom” to progress, all the way around… so that Alaska may progress… I will not seek re-election as Governor.
And so as I thought about this announcement that I wouldn’t run for re-election and what it means for Alaska, I thought about how much fun some governors have as lame ducks… travel around the state, to the Lower 48 (maybe), overseas on international trade – as so many politicians do. And then I thought – that’s what’s wrong – many just accept that lame duck status, hit the road, draw the paycheck, and “milk it”. I’m not putting Alaska through that – I promised efficiencies and effectiveness! That’s not how I am wired. I am not wired to operate under the same old “politics as usual.” I promised that four years ago – and I meant it.
It’s not what is best for Alaska.
I am determined to take the right path for Alaska even though it is unconventional and not so comfortable.
With this announcement that I am not seeking re-election… I’ve determined it’s best to transfer the authority of governor to Lieutenant Governor Parnell; and I am willing to do so, so that this administration – with its positive agenda, its accomplishments, and its successful road to an incredible future – can continue without interruption and with great administrative and legislative success.
My choice is to take a stand and effect change – not hit our heads against the wall and watch valuable state time and money, millions of your dollars, go down the drain in this new environment. Rather, we know we can effect positive change outside government at this moment in time, on another scale, and actually make a difference for our priorities – and so we will, for Alaskans and for Americans.
It would be pretty stupid to stay in office and continue to spend millions of dollars and man hours fighting the beltway boys while they try to continue to destroy her and her family’s character; and Sarah is anything but stupid. How does Alaska benefit from their governor being in beltway’s sites for the next 18 months? This is anything but a usual situation for any governor or politician.
Let me go back to a comfortable analogy for me – sports… basketball. I use it because you’re naïve if you don’t see the national full-court press picking away right now: A good point guard drives through a full court press, protecting the ball, keeping her eye on the basket… and she knows exactly when to pass the ball so that the team can win. And I’m doing that – keeping our eye on the ball that represents sound priorities – smaller government, energy independence, national security, freedom! And I know when it’s time to pass the ball – for victory.
I have given my reasons candidly and truthfully… and my last day won’t be for another few weeks so the transition will be very smooth. In fact, we will look to swear Sean in – in Fairbanks at the conclusion of our Governor’s picnics.
I do not want to disappoint anyone with my decision; all I can ask is that you trust me with this decision – but it’s no more “politics as usual”.
Trust me to actually be interested in what is best for the country and for average everyday Americans; not Wall Street, Big Oil, the Shadow Players, etc.
Some Alaskans don’t mind wasting public dollars and state time. I do. I cannot stand here as your Governor and allow millions upon millions of our dollars go to waste just so I can hold the title of Governor. And my children won’t allow it either.
Some will question the timing. Let’s just say, this decision has been in the works for awhile…
In fact, this decision comes after much consideration, and finally polling the most important people in my life – my children (where the count was unanimous… well, in response to asking: “Want me to make a positive difference and fight for ALL our children’s future from outside the Governor’s office?” It was four “yes’s” and one “hell yeah!” The “hell yeah” sealed it – and someday I’ll talk about the details of that… I think much of it had to do with the kids seeing their baby brother Trig mocked by some pretty mean-spirited adults recently.) Um, by the way, sure wish folks could ever, ever understand that we all could learn so much from someone like Trig – I know he needs me, but I need him even more… what a child can offer to set priorities right – that time is precious… the world needs more “Trigs”, not fewer.
My decision was also fortified during this most recent trip to Kosovo and Landstuhl, to visit our wounded soldiers overseas, those who sacrifice themselves in war for our freedom and security… we can ALL learn from our selfless Troops… they’re bold, they don’t give up, they take a stand and know that life is short so they choose to not waste time. They choose to be productive and to serve something greater than self… and to build up their families, their states, our country. These Troops and their important missions – those are truly the worthy causes in this world and should be the public priority with time and resources and not this local / superficial wasteful political bloodsport.
May we all learn from them!
*((Gotta put First Things First))*
First things first: as Governor, I love my job and I love Alaska. It hurts to make this choice but I am doing what’s best for Alaska. I’ve explained why… though I think of the saying on my parents’ refrigerator that says “Don’t explain: your friends don’t need it and your enemies won’t believe you anyway.”
But I have given my reasons… no more “politics as usual” and I am taking my fight for what’s right – for Alaska – in a new direction.
Now, despite this, I don’t want any Alaskan dissuaded from entering politics after seeing this real “climate change” that began in August… no, we need hardworking, average Americans fighting for what’s right! And I will support you because we need you and you can effect change, and I can too on the outside.
August climate change would be the resounding welcome to Sarah as one of us.
We need those who will respect our Constitution where government’s supposed to serve from the bottom up, not move toward this top down big government take-over… but rather, will be protectors of individual rights – who also have enough common sense to acknowledge when conditions have drastically changed and are willing to call an audible and pass the ball when it’s time so the team can win! And that is what I’m doing!
Respecting the Constitution? What’s That? Our non-representatives have no clue what the Constitution is and wouldn’t follow it if they had actually read it.
Remember Alaska… America is now, more than ever, looking North to the Future. It’ll be good. So God bless you, and from me and my family – to all Alaska – you have my heart.
America is now looking North to the Future….Sarah Palin for Prez in 2012. How much more plain does the left and Mitt Romney need it explained?
And we will be in the capable hands of our Lieutenant Governor, Sean Parnell. And Lieutenant General Craig Campbell will assume the role of Lieutenant Governor. And it is my promise to you that I will always be standing by, ready to assist. We have a good, positive agenda for Alaska.
In the words of General MacArthur said, “We are not retreating. We are advancing in another direction.”
If you have made it all the way to the end of this very long post, congratulations! Sarah Palin just fired the first shot in the war against the eastern seaboard establishment. She just took her enemies’ power away and turned it on them. This is one of the saviest moves I have ever seen be made by a politician and I would love to sit down and play a game of chess with this remarkable woman. They can no longer attack her without looking like the Spanish Inquisition burning witches, and she is free to rally support to either her cause, or the cause of other Americans rising to the challenge of leading this country back to it’s CONSTITUTIONAL roots. I personally think conservative Republicans should change their affilition to indie as soon as possible to send a message to their GOP that they haven’t been doing their job while they assist in the persecution of Sarah Palin and average Americans like Joe The Plumber.
For all those liberal moonbats out there; did the translation help at all? Bambi, Mishy, David, and Rahm have got to be tweaking right about now since Sarah just sucked all of the oxygen out of the room for the next 18 – 36 months. No wonder the moonbats are attacking even more aggressively since she held her press conference on Friday.
Moonbats? Good luck with 2010 and 2012 since now we actually have an orator that does NOT need a teleprompter and speech writer who can articulate the path our Founding Fathers laid down for us.
I cannot wait for the Bambi/Sarah debates!
I believe that Sarah Palin has received a “higher calling”, she has just given the movement the shot that was needed.
No one expected this and that is why her decision will be mocked but she is now to unleash upon this corrupt government what is needed. Even if she never holds another office she will be the one who has given us the transfusion that we need to carry this on.
I watched as she was mocked and her children attacked and thought how can she stand this, most others would turn tail and run, but she held her head high and fought on. She is the leader that this movement needs someone we can relate to and the one who will call a spade a spade.
She has heard our call and has so gallantly answered our call, may God bless her, her family and guide her in what she is about to partake and may God give us all the courage to follow her lead.
Kathy,
“We mock what we do not understand”. The fauxgressives do not understand that Sarah Palin is not quitting, she is taking aim, center mass.
I heard the news about Palin’s decision while at a Tea Party Friday evening. The crowd was not fazed. They cheered her and kept the faith that she has something bigger and better in mind.
The one phrase that she keeps repeating that no one seems to grasp is “no more politics as usual”. That means she’s refusing to play by the roolz the boyz have laid out (which are the same roolz that got Obama elected and Hillary Clinton a one way ticket to obscurity). Everything has changed. You can no longer win using the same strategy – Obama & Co. obliterated the standards (and ethics). To those that are prematurely announcing Sarah Palin’s political death I would say this: in a world where everything has been turned upside down and right is called wrong and wrong is a for-profit enterprise, Sarah Palin’s moral compass is still pointing to true north.
I applaud her gutsiness. Obugger’s world is crumbling around him, and she’s chosen to take the first real step of anyone toward challenging him in 2012, IMAO. I think you’ll see sweeping “hope and change” in the Senate and House in 2010, and I think you’ll see her working off that moment, already being far ahead of other competitors angling forthe Republican nomination…whatever that means anymore. Like you, LM, I no longer really identify with the “Republican Party” anymore; I’m a Conservative, and I don’t see Conservatives representing us in DC.
But I’m liking what Palin is doing to keep us in the fold. In libety, Dr. Dave.
Hey Dr Dave! Thanks for leaving a comment, but I must reiterate that I am not a republican or a conservative, and never have been one….just an American with common sense and an unapologetic capitalist. I do not agree with Sarah on every little issue, but I do respect her for her integrity, common sense, and spine. And you are right that she is the first to challenge the dipstick in the WH as the republicans are in on the game with the Dems and Sarah is like us, on the outside.
The leftist and Rinos were hoping Sarah was going away, but you could tell from her demeaner that she was angry and had enough of the constant harrasment sent her way by the axis of evil in DC. She realized that America needed a leader, and that we needed one now. She is a true consevative and a patriot and America will stand behind her,
You betcha!!!
Pissing off a “barracuda” who has what it takes to shoot a moose or bear & ain’t afraid to get her hands dirty could be a BIG mistake.
Speaking of the “Eastern seaboard…”
This Jersey Girl moved out to New Mexico exactly 10 years ago and brought her mother along. She’s still getting flack from her brother and sister about the move. They have insinuated that we live in an awful place. The world revolves around the NYC metro area.
My brother also conveys a whiff of this elitism. Although taking him to an Isotopes game in ABQ sort of softened him up….he loved the ballparlk and was impressed that he could get some trendy beer, complete with an orange slice freshly cut and put in the glass, something he coudldn’t do at Yankee Stadium…The pina colada bar with the huge array of colored cherries or whatever they were also grabbed his attention.
It takes time to wake people up from the East that we’re not really in the boonies out here@!!
Thanks for this great post, Diamond Tiger. It was good to see the full script of her speech and your interpretation of it was really helpful. I also don’t agree with some of her policies but I respect her for the way she has governed Alaska, the respect that she has from her constituents, and the way that she has handled the rediculous treatment by the press and many Americans. If I have learned anything by all of what has gone on in this country with this past election it is that I will never again vote strictly by party lines but by what a candidate really stands for. What I will be looking for in the next election is definately who I think will uphold the constitution and return us to the republic that our founding fathers(and mothers) fought so hard to give us.
As all of you wonderful Patriots, I am thrilled beyond the word. America now has a voice! One without a personal obscured agenda, yet someone who believes in the greatness of this land. This is a selfless women, who serves with a genuine heart. She stands on moral ground with priorities in the correct order. Whatever her politcal path, she’ll speak of truth and given the opportunity will work tiredlessly to defeat the self-serving, pompus, deceitful evils up on Capitol Hill. Here is a write in from a reader, who has some real exposure to her work ethic….coming from Illinois, can’t say the same for our ‘jr’ occupier of the oval office.
“I watched this on Fox live. I am one of her biggest fans but the elite hate her because she is the real deal and can upset their apple carts. I visit the State of Alaska IT Department a couple times a year as they are a customer. She hired a new CIO outside of Alaska and they changed things quickly. It made a huge difference. My driver works for the State road repair crew and drove part time. He said they actually fixed the roads after she took office!”
May God bless her path!
Outstanding post, DT – this should be a primer on Sarah Palin for everyone. Well done!!
My favorite part was when one of her kids said Hell yeah! She has raised her kids with the same fighting spirit and I LOVE IT! That spirit is strong and resonates with Americans! That is one of the many things that scares the moonbat liberals. She is a leader- I love her!
At the tea party I attended a guy stood up and praised Sarah and encouraged all of us to go to her website and tell her to run. Everyone cheered! Real change is coming! I can’t stop smiling!
Sarah Palin resigned for the good of Alaska. She has accumulated 1/2 million dollars in debt fighting all the baseless ethics charges. The State of Alaska has accumulated nearly as much in debt investigating the baseless charges. Sarah didn’t want the state to have to spend any more money on the attacks against her.
Prior to her being chosen as a VP candidate the Dems in the Alaska legislator would work with Palin on Alaska’s agenda…it was never her been “her”agenda but Alaska’s agenda. I believe the Dems now have their marching orders from the White House….don’t work with her, destroy her. I believe the same was told to the Obots who have done similar things.
And let us not forget the attacks now coming from the Republican Party being led by Michael Steele. I am certain he is in on the attacks which I believe are being leveled by the Romney Camp! Why are they being leveled on her? First and most important is she is a strong woman who has not been bought by the darl side of politics or greed….she isn’t a millionaire. She is thoroughly middle class with no false pretenses or airs. She is like all of us wondering where the country is headed. Sarah Palin has fire in her belly and we have not seen the last of her.
She now has the independence and freedom to fight the attacks that will still be leveled at her. She isn’t running away from the burning building, she is at the front of the hose line fighting it. And many of us will follow her through thick and thin. Why? Because she is fresh, she has showed she is learning about things greater then Alaska, and she owns that fire in her belly.
What about those assholes who put up nasty pictures of Trig again? What is wrong with them? Spend some time with a person who has Down Syndrome….they give nothing but unconditional love. It really opens your heart up. It is one of the most rewarding experiences.
I have a lot of respect for Sarah Palin, but I do not think she is the Reagan/Lincoln/Washington this nation needs right now. In normal times I think she would be a fine “steward of the throne” but today we need a President for which we have not had since Reagan. I am still looking for the reincarnation of Reagan to help guide the real America through these times…I do not see him/her (and to be pc [it]). Perhaps we need to start a WE THE PEOPLE nomination list for the next President. I nominate Victor Davis Hanson.
In the mean time I am developing a “bastard list.” This list is for all of those who publicly damn the “American Ideal”. The list will have all of the usual suspects Jane Fonda, Sean Penn etc. but today I will go ahead and add every one I can find that has cheap shotted Sarah Palin, like David Letterman and his sponsors.
Perhaps someday I can develop a barcode software so when shopping one could scan an item on the shelf before purchace and determine if the maker of the product is a “bastard” or supports the follies of a “bastard.” High tech boycot software anyone?
Walt – can you explain to me the hero worship of Ronald Reagan – I just don’t get it, but then again it could be because of what I know about Ronald Reagan.
I am waiting for someone to start talking about finding someone like the founding fathers – not Ronnie.
Diamond,
I’m with you! I want Thomas Jefferson or Sam Adams. And if I can’t find someone like them that is willing to run, I will settle for the spitfire from Wasilla that has inspired a huge number of patriots.
hanks for the article:
Any time the Democrats go after anyone as furiously as they did Sarah maybe that’s the one we should lend our support to. The invasion of Alaska like blood thirsty paparazzi on steroids.
What else could we expect from communists; Alinsky training in action.

Diamond Tiger asked, “Walt – can you explain to me the hero worship of Ronald Reagan – I just don’t get it, but then again it could be because of what I know about Ronald Reagan.”
I would love to. First of all I would like to water down the statement “hero worship.” I have no earthly heroes.
Ronald Reagan was not a man fresh with new ideas, he was neither a visionary, nor a deep intellectual…he did not need to be, because Truth exists. President Reagan’s policy and “ideas” were not new, to the contrary they were very old; they were the ones of our founders.
The founders of our nation, I believe were God ordained to serve a purpose. The ideas they had were also not new. They did not invent the “self evident truths.” They did not ordain the ‘Laws of Nature,” or create the Creator. They simply, through great wisdom and perseverance and the study of human nature, compiled very old Truths and built a series of documents so that we may be ruled by the written law, as inspired by the Creator, rather than corruptible men. Just as Moses delivered Levitical Law so did our Founders deliver The Constitution. Although wise (a blessing from God) our founders were simply deliverers. When I remember Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Henry and Lincoln I honor their resolute nature, their diligence and love for freedom…but they were just men, honored to serve man and God.
So I say, we are all mortal; imperfect and flawed. Reagan was not a “perfect man.” I do not revere Reagan because he was great, but I do revere the message he carried. A message of freedom, responsibility, morality, actions and consequences; a similar message to those passed to us by our founders. Reagan was humble, kind mannered, and strong. When he spoke people understood, and were inspired to follow. Like a good father Reagan was predictable, and consistent his actions were reasonable and logical. Reagan, like our founders, knew there are no “new ideas” and that there is “nothing new under the sun.” He stood for the old ways, the proven ways…the Truth. No he was not a god amongst men, but he inspired men. He brought out the best within men and within America. He knew that the United States of America was not great because of its land nor location; but by its ideals, the “American Ideal.”
