  1. During the Great Depression, psychologists knew that the way out of the Depression was innovative leadership of corporations. They devised a special test in 1938 to help identify potential leaders. It was administered in colleges across the country. The effort was largely a failure since far too few managed to score well. Creative and innovative types with leadership skills are rare.
