AYFKM?: US Intelligence Community Can Assassinate American Citizens

Are you ready to be told that the Director of National Intelligence thinks it’s okay to assassinate Americans who the intelligence community believes are terrorists?

Nope, not lying.  First, we were right-wing domestic terrorists if we read the Constitution, then we were an Angry Mob, and now it’s okay to assassinate us.  Their words, not mine.

License to Kill? Intelligence Chief Says U.S. Can Take Out American Terrorists

Director of National Intelligence Says Intelligence Community Can Target Citizens Presenting a Terrorist Threat

The director of national intelligence affirmed rather bluntly today that the U.S. intelligence community has authority to target American citizens for assassination if they present a direct terrorist threat to the United States. (emphasis mine)

“We take direct actions against terrorists in the intelligence community; if … we think that direct action will involve killing an American, we get specific permission to do that,” Director of National Intelligence Dennis Blair told the House Intelligence Committee.

Rep. Peter Hoekstra D-Mich., addressed the issue at today’s hearing.

“The targeting of Americans — it’s a very sensitive issue, but again there’s been more information in the public domain than what has been shared with this committee,” he said.

“There is no clarity.” Hoekstra said. “What is the legal framework?”

“Whether that American is involved in a group that is trying to attack us, whether that American has — is a threat to other Americans. Those are the factors involved.” Blair explained. “We don’t target people for free speech. We target them for taking action that threatens Americans.”

According to U.S. officials, only a handful of Americans would be eligible for targeting by U.S. intelligence or military operations. The legal guidance is determined by the National Security Council and the Justice Department. (emphasis mine)

Don’t you feel better now knowing that progressive Eric Holder holds your fate in his hands?

In the past, the U.S. has killed Americans overseas but they were viewed as “collateral damage.” In 2002, the CIA killed American-born Kamal Derwish, a member of the “Lackawanna 6″ terror group during a CIA Predator drone strike. Derwish was driving in a car with other members of al Qaeda, the government said.In 2008, a missile strike in Somalia killed American Ruben Shumpert, a Seattle man suspected of being an Islamist radical. Shumpert was wanted by federal authorities on gun and counterfeit currency charges. He had agreed to plead guilty but fled the country days before sentencing in 2004.

The Yemeni-American cleric Anwar al Awlaki, who has become a prominent influence with al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, was at a meeting with leaders of the terror group when U.S. officials knowingly launched a cruise missile strike to eliminate the terror leaders. Several people were killed but Awlaki survived.

ARE YOU FREAKIN KIDDING ME?

UN-FRAKKIN’-BELIEVABLE!

Can you believe that an American used the words assassinate and Americans together in a the same sentence as if it was just a mathematical theorum?

:::::Screaming::::::Hair On Fire:::::

I cannot tell you how INCENSED I am right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What ever happened to innocent until proven guilty?  Due process?  Constitutional Rights?  Oh, I forgot – that’s only for foreign, islamic jihadists, usually caught on foreign soil.  NOT Americans!

This is exactly why this middle of road constitutionalist just about lost her mind when Bush and Congress passed the Patriot Act!!!!!!!  Frakkin’ Fascists.

(Editor’s Note: This story from ABC! Maybe they are feeling the pressure to report real news now?  Or maybe they are just trying to stir up a hornet’s nest?)

I’m not yet willing to believe that ABC has seen the light . Maybe their lack of viewers is beginning to get to them, but I’ll wait and see before I judge. Whenever any part of the MSM seems to be improving I take a wait and see attitude in view of their past performance. Let’s wait until the election heats up and see what their slant is.

Will they report the truth, or just what they want us to see and hear? A leopard doesn’t change it’s spots, and an ultra-progressive doesn’t change his/her beliefs that quickly. I think this is a CYA maneuver.

P.S. – As for the right to assasinate an American citizen, I think that if his royal Obamass decides that is the thing to do it will happen. He makes his own laws and appoints the people that carry them out. Do you think it isn’t his opinion that counts? To him and his minions the Constitution is just and inconvienent piece of paper.

It would seem that some American citizens have already been assassinated in order to protect this administration. As well as those who have incredible security in order not to be among those assassinated.

Ding, ding ding! We have a winner! It’s easier to apologize than to ask permission, and the current administration is certainly not shy about ignoring the will of the lowlife masses people!

As long as we leave him and his administration in there the more chance we are to see some of this come to fruition. Can we get him out NOW?

That’s really rich–they can take US out without mirandizing or otherwise respecting our constitutional rights but if our troops kill the enemy they are sentenced to life in prison.
AND enemy combatants are given lawyers at our expense and being tried in criminal civilian courts. To say, “WTF” doesn’t even BEGIN to cover it. The PTB are flirting with disaster and they are apparently SO stupid, arrogant and incompetent that they don’t even know it; they would do well to beware of complacency, but like all bullies and cowards, they are way too stupid to see what’s coming.

They have no fear–they say and do anything they want to; they run the show so they decide who gets killed and who doesn’t–and they don’t give a rat’s red crap what anyone else thinks, says or does…all the better to assassinate them.

  9. Couple this crap with what the Zero administration wants to pull vis a vis cell phones [http://news.cnet.com/8301-13578_3-10451518-38.html] and you’ve the makings for the beginnings of some very troublesome actions in this country.

On the other hand, I don’t know about people in the intelligence community take the same oath to defend the Constitution and NOT attack American citizens, but if they do they’d better consult Promise Keepers before attempting to take out a “dangerous” terrorist like me.

      Snarky,

The cell phone thing is already out of hand. I use a Blackberry that belongs to my employer and a few days ago I happened to notice a new icon that had appeared for Bing search engine. After questioning, I was informed that Blackberry had struck a deal with Microsoft’ and the “upgrade” had been automatically pushed to all their devices.

We’re not even talking about the wireless carrier here; RIM was able to access my business phone (which contains confidential and frequently sensitive emails) without permission and install unwanted software without my consent or knowledge.

Think about the implications of that. If I owned the company, I’d be having some second thoughts about using Blackberries.
